Around the world, humanity speaks many spiritual languages, and I find wisdom in all of them. My family’s roots are in Shinto, yet I believe curiosity should be free to explore the words and life of Jesus Christ without the boundaries of belief.
Lately, I have been fascinated by Leonardo da Vinci’s sfumato technique, the way he softened edges and blended light into shadow to reveal not just a face, but a soul. When I photograph myself, I sometimes draw from his method, using sunlight as he used his brush, allowing reality to dissolve into subtle gradations.
In this sense, the Mona Lisa is not so different from faith. Both invite us to look deeper, beyond the surface, into mystery itself. Like da Vinci’s art, the story of Jesus is not confined to a single frame; it is a light that seeps into every shade of human experience.
For me, truth is not a single statue in a single temple, but a light refracted through many windows, each revealing another facet of the same eternal beauty.
