Just In: Oyo State House of Assembly members endorse Ogundoyin for governor, vow to deliver statewide support.
Do you think this endorsement will shape the 2027 Oyo governorship race? 🤔
RESPONSE TO MISREPRESENTATION OF FACTS ON OYO STATE POWER PROJECTS BY THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF POWER
The attention of the Oyo State Government has been drawn to certain inaccurate statements made by the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, regarding the status of power projects within the State. It is important to clearly set the records straight in the interest of the public.
Firstly, the 11MW Independent Power Project (IPP) was indeed completed and partially operationalised. About 5MW was successfully commissioned, and it supplied electricity to critical government infrastructure at the Agodi Secretariat for approximately five months during its testing phase.
However, it must be clearly stated that:
• The project operated under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) arrangement.
• Oyo State Government did not release capital funds to the contractor for the project, as the project was fully funded by the private investment.
• Payments made were strictly for electricity consumed during the testing period, not for project execution.
The limitation observed was not in generation alone but in distribution expansion, particularly the need to extend supply beyond the Secretariat to residential and commercial corridors such as Bodija–Total Garden axis. Efforts are ongoing to resolve these structural and commercial gaps with the project partners.
PROGRESS ON THE 12MW IBADAN INDEPENDENT POWER (GAS) PROJECT
In line with our forward-looking energy strategy, the State has commenced a more sustainable and technically robust project — the 12MW Ibadan Independent Power Gas Project.
Current status:
• The project is significantly advanced, with civil works, generator base infrastructure, and ancillary facilities well underway.
• Transmission infrastructure is progressing, including installation of concrete poles and distribution fittings across key parts of Ibadan.
• The project is designed not just for government use, but to serve strategic public institutions, street lighting, and expand to wider economic clusters.
This project represents a shift from experimental power supply to a structured, scalable, and integrated electricity solution for Oyo State.
While constructive criticism is welcome, it must be anchored on verified information.
The statement by the Honourable Minister of Power is, therefore, clearly deficient in facts and does not reflect the true position of ongoing developments in Oyo State.

Leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across Ibarapaland, at our zonal meeting today, made a clear and compelling call for me to throw my hat in the ring for the 2027 Governorship election in Oyo State.
In direct response to this, I have formally declared my intention to contest.
This decision goes beyond personal ambition.
It is a responsibility shaped by the collective yearning of our people for focused, inclusive, and result-driven leadership.
I am grateful for the confidence reposed in me, and I accept this responsibility with a clear understanding of the demands ahead and an unwavering commitment to serve with integrity and purpose.
I also met with stakeholders in my constituency, Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government, where the message was equally firm and aligned.
Across board, the position is clear, our people are ready, and the moment is now.
This is a defining step. The journey has begun.
Today, I facilitated the Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Elected Officials’ Stakeholders’ Meeting held in Ibadan, bringing together key stakeholders and elected representatives of our great party across different levels of government.
The meeting provided an important platform for us to reflect on the progress of governance in our state, strengthen the unity of the PDP in Oyo State, and collectively chart a way forward for sustained development.
One of the major highlights of the meeting was the unanimous vote of confidence passed on His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, whose visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to good governance continue to deliver meaningful development and improved welfare for the people of Oyo State.
We also had frank and constructive discussions on strengthening party unity across all zones and local government areas, while reaffirming our collective resolve to keep the PDP strong, stable, and people-focused.
The stakeholders’ meeting further resolved to put necessary machineries in place to address internal issues in some zones, local governments, and among certain party stalwarts, in order to reinforce cohesion and discipline within the party.
I commend all party leaders and stakeholders for their dedication to the ideals of unity, discipline, and service.
Together, we will continue to work for the progress of our party and the prosperity of the good people of Oyo State.
Dear Lord,
Today, I call upon You to be my immediate source of guidance and clarity. Give me the discernment to recognize the path I should take and the boldness to pursue it. If anything in my life is toxic, outdated, or a drain on my energy, sweep it away, for it has no place in my journey forward. In the powerful name of Jesus, I declare these things. May I walk in the confidence of knowing that You are leading me to greater things. Amen. 🙏🏾
