@anandpur_exile Digwa didn't just break British law, he broke Sikh law.
The kirpan exists to protect the innocent. He used a blade to murder one.
Maharaaj didn't give us shastar to settle personal disputes.
Distancing from Digwa is not about appeasing anyone. It is about upholding Dharam
Deeply saddened by the horrific murder of Henry Nowak and my heartfelt condolences to Henry’s family.
But beware those cunningly politicising people’s pain; scapegoating and throwing under the bus the whole Sikh community, based on the actions of just one violent individual. 1/2
Henry Nowak’s murder was a horrific crime. Our thoughts remain with his family and loved ones.
Today, Sikh MPs have issued a statement standing in solidarity with Henry’s family, supporting justice and accountability, and rejecting attempts to divide communities.

Jas Singh, representing the Sikh Federation (UK) @SikhFedUK speaking at a press conference at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Smethwick @GNGSmethwick following the sentencing of Vickrum Digwa for 21 years for the murder of Henry Novak.
The Sikh community has unequivocally condemned in the strongest terms Vickrum Digwa for not only the murder of Henry Novak for which he is solely responsible, but also the lies he has told.
He made the wrong choice, should have pleaded guilty and must now serve his lengthy prison sentence.
"It should have been a moment to celebrate"
Peterborough United's Kira Rai discusses the emotional impact that online racist abuse has had on her after the announcement of her signing last month.
I am deeply shocked by the horrific attack on a young Sikh woman in Oldbury.
This was an act of extreme violence but is also being treated as racially aggravated, with the perpetrators reportedly telling her that she “does not belong here.” https://t.co/wMtYi3XGzB

🎖️At Windsor Castle today, The King invested 103-year-old Havildar Major Rajindar Singh Dhatt as an MBE for services to the South Asian Community in the UK.
Born in 1921 in pre-partition India, Rajindar had almost finished school when the Second World War broke out, prompting him to join the British Army.
Rajindar quickly rose through the ranks and was promoted to Havildar Major (Sergeant Major) in 1943. He was deployed to the Far East campaign, where he fought in Kohima, northeast India, supporting the Allied Forces in breaking through Japanese defenses.
After the war, Rajindar returned to India before relocating with his family to Hounslow in 1963. There, he co-founded the ‘Undivided Indian Ex-Servicemen’s Association’, to help unite British-Indian veterans.
