Ben McCollum intentionally omitting Alford and Lickliter when mentioning Iowa’s coaching history shows you he’s one of us, and he hated them just as much as we did. We got our guy. We got our FUCKING GUY.
@circleherk Do it, I did. As long time Iowa hoops watchers, I think we both would like to see success on par with the peak Tom Davis years. So many good memories from the Fran years but it's time to arm a good coach with support. Go Hawks!
@circleherk Idk, I don't think they are the same shortcomings. Kirk finally bit the bullet, went all in on NIL + Transfer Portal and has done a 180 w/ Lester running offense and QB room now. Fran never embraced the portal, hated NIL, and refused to change defensive philosophy.
@circleherk I disagree with what you're saying at the end. I don't think this is the way, but in history, in general, it's a lot harder to gain a right than it is to take it away.
While I disagree with this means to an end, I appreciate your perspective. I hope you could see mine.
@circleherk I can see this being a means to an end that you'd like to see that doesn't guarantee outcomes(whatever those are) to this particular class, sure that's fine and this accomplishes that. But it goes way beyond that with removing protections which is equal opportunity.
@circleherk If you remove a class(gender identity) from the state civil rights code, then according to the state, there is no protection for someone who identifies differently that is denied housing or a job and number of other things because they identify differently.
@circleherk That's not what this change does. It doesn't allow equal opportunity because you could discriminate based on a class, which is being removed from the state civil rights.
@circleherk If you put it like that, I agree that equal opportunity is the way versus equal outcomes, which I don't agree with. That's not what this is though. Denying a renter or job applicant solely on the grounds of how they are different from you, is not equal opportunity.
@circleherk Civil rights cover a wide range including employment or housing.
Anyways I wasn't looking to debate my stance but to learn more about yours.
@circleherk "The Iowa House approved the bill that would strip the state civil rights code of protections based on gender identity, less than an hour after the state Senate backed the legislation. First introduced last week, the measure raced through the legislative process."
Amazon paid $40 million for a documentary about Melania Trump - THREE times the next highest bid - and Melania tried to sell $10mm "sponsorships" to CEOs at Trump's inauguration. Nothing weird about that!
BREAKING: Consumer prices rose 3% in January compared to a year ago, ticking up from the previous month and posing an obstacle for Trump administration tariff policies that many economists expect to raise some prices. https://t.co/fPcxEamqan
