@NjZEO@wildstwawberry Do you not understand grieving the loss of something that was once enjoyable and important to you because it fundamentally changed in a way that it no longer brings you joy
@ssjchrollo@stc15_stc@MrShikaki33959@MurkaDurkah No one is saying they weren’t in the game. I had a friend who caught a shiny zubat “because he thought it was sick” in RSE. I got my first full odds in L:A. Information wasn’t immediate back then and experiences/memories will vary wildly between friend groups
@JoeMerrick@Fissionprime@MurkaDurkah Even maintaining a site of any kind, small or niche (especially in ‘02), puts you in a pretty unique subset…
Also a big fan of your work, but I’ve gotta agree that your perspective probably isn’t generally representative of most pokemon fans’ 🤷
@NailsOU@JacobSkraw Formats will evolve for as long as they have tournaments that people want to win. I’d rather the ebbs and flows come from innovative players than up top saying “how do things change if now this is allowed?”
I feel like most mechanics really encourage just playing, win or lose, which is huge. It’s so easy to tilt or walk away and stop practicing after a few losses, but thinking “hey, I’m still earning VP and chipping away at the battle pass” could be enough to keep you in it
While the new “rental” system in champions means you can’t try teams out for free, which does slightly increase barrier to entry, I do like that having to earn back your VP encourages players to stick with a team long enough to learn its lines and tools and build experience.
@GladiusRegis5@lthlnkso *Survive long enough to transmit. Once it proliferates it doesn’t care what happens to you after. If it spreads after a week and you die from the effects 3 weeks later, it could have 100% mortality and still be a pandemic
@GlitchxCity Genuine question: how does one recognize AI gen’d music? I listened to the track that started this discourse before hearing it was AI, and thought it was pretty good. I’m an experienced musician and nothing seemed obviously “off” to me the way visual genAI does. What’s the tell?
@Gagaegral I see a lot of “this would be too much to keep track of” but we already have niche things like “sound moves bypass substitute.” Could definitely be neat if applied similarly to freeze dry, where not all moves are categorized like this but specific ones get added complexity
@nrmtenjoyer It doesn’t conflict imo, I think the idea was that you would change your team around often- as you progress and find better mons. Taking your favorite little guy all the way to the end wasn’t the point. Exception being the starters, who scale well but are rare
@45mice The main reason I left comp MtG is bc I was tired of buying new cards to keep up. I love(d) VGC because there was no extra $; I had the game already so in order to compete I just had to play it. I get they’re a business/other esports do it, but it’s still a disappointing change
