🚨#BREAKING:A young mother hiking on her birthday trip asked a stranger for directions...

...the man SL*SHED HER THROAT, punched her, pulled her hair, threw her down, and tried to DRAG HER OFF.

She FOUGHT HIM OFF and survived only because a stranger opened her door to save her.

Her name is Alexis Rowan, she's 27, a mother of two from New York City.

She and a friend saved up for a birthday trip to Havasupai Falls, near the Grand Canyon.

Eight miles into the hike, Alexis got separated from her friend.

She saw a man, the first person she'd come across, and asked him a simple question: was this the way to the gift shop?

As soon as she asked the question... she knew something felt off and turned to walk away.

As she turned to walk away, police say he sl*shed her across the neck from behind.

Then he punched her, pulled her hair, threw her down, and tried to drag her off, according to her mother.

A Ring camera caught all of it.

"I felt my neck and I thought, oh my God, I'm going to d*e. I can't d*e like this. I have my kids to go home to!!!"

So she fought.

She broke free and ran screaming until a woman opened her door and took her in.

Ten stitches in her neck.

The man charged, 29-year-old Taylor Paya, a Native American and member of the Havasupai Tribe, was already a convicted FELON!!!!

Court records show he served FIVE YEARS for a 2015 robbery, one that involved a female victim.

His sentencing even ordered him into s*x offender treatment!!!!!

A man with a documented history of violence against women was let out into society to prey on a woman AGAIN.

He was out on a $5,000 bond at the time of the m*rder for assaulting a woman in MARCH OF THIS YEAR for HITTING HER IN THE FACE WITH CAR KEYS.
