We rightly boycotted South Africa because of Apartheid. When people claim there is nothing we can do to help the imprisoned women and girls of Afghanistan, a boycott of Afghanistan’s men’s cricket team is one of the few things we could and must do.
Controversial perhaps, but how about banning the Afghanistan cricket team from international matches? Sorry lads, but time to think of Afghan women and girls.

I bet every time you’ve victim blamed a woman and said, ‘why didn’t she just leave?’
You hadn’t considered ‘incase he ties up her and her family and kills them all with a crossbow’, as one of the options.
We know for most women, the most dangerous moment in abuse is when they try to leave. You are most likely to be seriously attacked or killed as you leave, or just after you leave.
That was certainly true for me. Twice. One time resulted in lifelong injuries. Both resulted in police investigations and arrests. Just from choosing to end the relationship.
So next time you learn that a woman is stuck in abuse and can’t/won’t leave, maybe reserve your judgement and consider how much risk she knows she is at.
Rishi Sunak and his government don't know anything about the post office scandal now that they didn't before ITV's drama aired. What's changed is that the public reaction, which has forced them to act. A reminder of who's really in charge; don't let them forget it.
Vicky Neale died in May, and as term approaches, her example as teacher, mentor and doer (she was a magnificent doer) is everywhere we turn.
We will celebrate Vicky's life on Sat 11 Nov in @OxUniMaths with a public event. There's much to celebrate.

Last summer, my son, then 9, swam in an English river and suffered 6 whole days of diarrhoea and vomiting. It was very worrying. His friend was almost hospitalised. And now we’re told the only way we can have more houses is by sacrificing any hope of cleaning up our waterways. It’s so depressing. Humanity can surely be better than this.
4.2m Brits aren't in food poverty because refugees are getting a decent breakfast. 4.2m Brits are in food poverty because companies like Daily Mail and General Trust are registered in Bermuda so they don't pay any taxes.
This week's old school assembly hymn is inextricably linked to the end of the school year.
"One More Step Along the World I Go" is a song about moving on. It was written by folk singer Sydney Carter (see also Lord of the Dance & When I Needed a Neighbour) & published in 1971.
Remember when they fined a 66yr old man £100 for meeting friends in an allotment to get some respite from his loneliness?!
His statement was a heart wrenching read 💔
They really didn’t give a shit about us did they?! Just partied away, mocking us & taking us all for fools!
@OxUniMaths I’m so sorry to hear this. I saw her speak with some of my students at Oxford and she was passionate and inspiring. My thoughts are with her family and friends.
