Nuclear news bombshell out of Texas!🚨
@WECNuclear + @FermiAmerica just announced plans to deploy FOUR advanced AP1000 reactors in Amarillo, Texas!
These gigawatt-scale units would power hyperscale AI, boost U.S. energy security, & put Texas at the heart of America’s nuclear comeback!!!
Because… everything is bigger in Texas 🤠🌵
NRC license app underway... crossing fingers for a positive & fast outcome!
✈️ Denver Airport is eyeing nuclear.
A $1.25M study will explore if an SMR can power future growth at DIA, potentially making it the first airport with on-site zero-emissions nuclear.
Did we see this kind of stuff last cycle?

🚨 Historic News for Nuclear Energy! 🚨
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) officially reauthorized the operating license for the Palisades Nuclear Plant—the first time in U.S. history a previously shutdown nuclear facility has been approved for restart.
This monumental achievement sets a precedent for clean energy innovation and proves what’s possible with vision, dedication, and perseverance.
Palisades is now on track to return over 800 MW of carbon-free baseload power to Michigan’s grid—enough to power 800,000+ homes. A huge win for energy reliability, sustainability, and our future.
👏 Congratulations to the Palisades team and everyone across Holtec who made this possible!

The trucks are rolling, soil is moving, and the foundation is set for North America’s first SMR at Darlington. We are ready for construction on this game-changing project. The future of nuclear will be made in Ontario. Learn more: https://t.co/XNajwkAxxZ #BigThingsStartSmall
Today, we approved NuScale’s design for a 77-megawatt, 6-module small modular reactor, similar to NuScale’s design for a smaller SMR that we certified in 2023. We completed the review ahead of schedule and under budget. More info at: https://t.co/akhVz6BqFT #AdvancedReactorReady
ICYMI: EPRI President and CEO Arshad Mansoor will be a keynote speaker on June 3 at the @Eurelectric Power Summit 2025 in Belgium. In his keynote with panel debate entitled as "New energy demand drivers: The role of data centers in Europe" he will discuss the anticipated significant load growth in the EU and elsewhere, driven by industrial expansion, electrification, and data center development.
Mansoor will be joined by Dara Lynott of EAI: Electricity Association of Ireland, Stephen Woodhouse of AFRY Management Consulting, Ana Quelhas at @EdpRenewables, and Maud Texier at @Google for the panel debate, moderated by Giovanni Scomparin of Eurelectric,

Washington state's Columbia nuclear plant will uprate its power outout by 200 MW (from 1,207 to 1,407 MW). The uprate project activities will occur during the spring refueling outages in 2027, 2029, and 2031. Article link in reply.
The uprate will cost $700 million. That's a small fraction of the recent costs for new nuclear plant construction, in terms of dollars per MW. It costs $3.5 million per MW, compared to ~$15 million per MW for Vogtle, for example.
BREAKING 🚨🇺🇸 Trump just signed four executive orders to supercharge U.S. nuclear energy.
Live from the Oval Office, he called nuclear:
“a hot industry… very safe & environmental.”
Here’s what just changed:
•NRC has 18 months (max) to approve reactor licenses
•New reactors can be built on federal land (hello DoE and DoD)
•Push for domestic uranium production — energy independence, anyone?
Whether you’re cheering or raising your eyebrows, this could reshape how fast we deploy clean nuclear power in the U.S. !!!
Let’s talk:
Is this the shot in the arm the industry needed — or are there risks in moving too fast?
Sweden's parliament passed a bill that would have the government finance new nuclear reactors which have an overall capacity of ~5000 MW. They will have to loan ~$30 to ~$60 billion. (Seems similar to the Vogtle cost.) Article link in reply.
"The government plans four large-scale reactors - with installed capacity of around 5,000 MW - or the equivalent in small, modular reactors (SMRs). Half of those should be on-stream by 2035."
