Apparently, I’ve committed a terrible offense. I said something nice about Taylor Swift. My post hit 1.7 million views, and now I’m getting people telling me I caved to the Taylor Swift fans, that I got bullied into apologizing, and that I’m a simp.

No, folks. I didn’t cave. I didn’t suddenly become a Swiftie. Nobody sent me a friendship bracelet. I’m still listening to George Jones.
I simply saw something I thought was good and said so.

What I saw was a woman who looked proud of her man. She was cheering for him. She looked happy to be his wife. And I thought, “You know what? I like that.” That’s it. Apparently, we’ve reached a point where you’re not allowed to compliment somebody unless you agree with everything they’ve ever done.

I talk all the time about marriage, commitment and how nice it would be if people actually celebrated being married instead of treating marriage like some kind of temporary subscription service.
So when I see a woman with millions of young women watching her, proudly standing beside her husband, I’m going to say that’s a good thing. I don’t care if her name is Taylor Swift or Wanda from the Waffle House.

And here’s the part I really mean, Taylor Swift is a role model to a lot of women. I’m not a big Taylor Swift fan. I don’t know half the songs. But if she can make being proud of your husband, loving your marriage and cheering for your man look cool to millions of women, I’m all for it.
Maybe somebody watching her thinks, “You know what? I want that.” That matters.

And men, by the way, this works both ways. Give her something to be proud of. Be the guy she wants to brag about. Love your woman. Stand beside her. Make her feel like she made a good decision.

So no, Taylor Swift didn’t convert me. I’m not buying a red scarf and sitting in the front row.

I just saw a woman being proud of her marriage and thought, “Good for her.”

If that makes me a simp, apparently I’m a simp who still has a George Jones playlist.

I can live with that.

Hospital boards across the country have begun closed door discussions with local and state governments over preemptive plans for bailouts in 2027 as hospitals take on operating costs set to rise 18%, lower reimbursement rates, and expectations for the largest un-insured population in history.

Hospitals are holding record levels of bonds and expectations are for operating margins to fall from -7% to greater than -20%. Hospital boards are warning governments if a plan to fund the losses isn’t in place, mass layoffs are likely and could be catastrophic for patient care.

Danny Santulli was a freshman at the University of Missouri.

He had joined Phi Gamma Delta, also known as Fiji, hoping to find friendship, belonging, and a place where he could fit in.

But the initiation process was becoming increasingly difficult.

His family noticed the change and encouraged him to walk away.

Danny didn’t.

He didn’t want to be the person who quit.

On October 19, 2021, the fraternity held an event known as “Pledge Dad Reveal Night.”

What was supposed to be a fraternity tradition turned into a nightmare.

Danny and other pledges were blindfolded and taken downstairs.

According to evidence later recovered from the fraternity house, Danny was pressured to consume enormous amounts of alcohol. At one point, fraternity members poured beer through a funnel into his mouth. He was also expected to finish a bottle of vodka.

He couldn’t.

But the pressure continued.

Eventually, Danny collapsed.

Surveillance footage later showed him being placed on a couch. He remained there while time passed.

At one point, he slid partly off the couch.

Eventually, fraternity members carried him outside and put him into a car.

When Danny reached the hospital, he wasn’t breathing.

His heart had stopped.

Doctors performed CPR and managed to restart his heart.

His blood-alcohol level was extraordinarily high.

Danny had suffered catastrophic brain damage.

He survived—but his life would never be the same.

After months in intensive care and rehabilitation, Danny eventually returned home to his family.

He could no longer see.

He could no longer walk.

He could no longer speak normally.

He needed help with almost everything.

A young man who had gone to college looking for friendship and belonging had been left with life-changing injuries because a hazing ritual crossed a line that should never have existed.

The story of Danny Santulli became more than a story about one fraternity.

It became a warning about what can happen when humiliation is disguised as tradition, when dangerous drinking is treated as entertainment, and when people are more afraid of getting in trouble than they are of saving someone’s life.

Danny’s family has spent years speaking publicly about what happened, hoping his story will prevent another family from receiving the phone call theirs received that night.

Because no initiation is worth a life.

And no friendship should ever require you to prove yourself by putting your life at risk.
