After traveling 1.4 million miles through space, orbiting the Moon, and collecting data that will prepare us to send astronauts on future #Artemis missions, the @NASA_Orion spacecraft is home.
On flight day 13 of the #Artemis I mission, @NASA_Orion reached its maximum distance from Earth, 268,563 miles away from home.
Orion has now traveled farther than any other spacecraft designed to carry humans to deep space & safely return them to Earth. https://t.co/tt0x4YDkxZ
Regulators, mount up! 🌟
Data from @ChandraXray and @SOFIAtelescope reveal a star cluster that regulates itself—allowing only a limited set of stars to grow before expelling most of the gas from the system. This process likely slows new star creation: https://t.co/T97kdYJlHk
Earthset. 🌎
@NASA_Orion captured this shot of Earth “setting” while the spacecraft passed close to the Moon. Nearly 270,000 miles (430,000 km) away, #Artemis I will soon surpass Apollo 13’s record-setting distance from Earth in a spacecraft designed to carry astronauts.
On the ninth day of the #Artemis I mission, the @NASA_Orion spacecraft completed its sixth outbound trajectory correction burn at 4:52pm ET (21:52 UTC). This is the final trajectory correction before entering distant retrograde orbit tomorrow. https://t.co/eGDhvLgTze
The @NASA_Orion spacecraft is now on its seventh day into the #Artemis I mission.
Orion will exit the lunar sphere of influence, or the gravitational pull of the Moon, at 11:31 pm ET (04:31 UTC) and continue traveling toward distant retrograde orbit. https://t.co/mjYGsmGIJ7
#OTD in #History, 1800, #Congress moved to its permanent home in the #USA Capitol. #POTUS Adams soon met w/ Congress & entreated that it "be the residence of virtue & happiness. In this city may that piety and virtue, that wisdom and magnanimity...be for ever held in veneration."
@KamalaHarris Congratulations, Madam Vice President! In any case, all this is a comprehensive, fair, real democracy. There comes a good opportunity to unite representatives of different political views.
@KamalaHarris 2) At the heart of everything is a common understanding of the right path, when everyone acts together, preserving freedom of thought, spiritual development and their individuality.
@KamalaHarris 1) It is good when there is a kind association of people who understand each other. Their voices will be heard in a united desire for bright changes. And the bigger the association, the louder the voices sound.
#OTD in #history, 1793, #POTUS George Washington laid the cornerstone of the #USA#Capitol. For more than two centuries, the Capitol—like the #democracy it represents—remains under construction, often expanding, always building toward a stronger foundation.
#OTD in #USHistory, 1775, the @USNavy was created by the #Congress. While its impact on the #AmRev was modest, the #USNavy has grown into the best marine force in the world. But as T. Roosevelt said, “A good Navy is not a provocation to war. It is the surest guaranty of peace.”
