This meme makes the opposite point.
That painting looks to be Vir heroicus sublimus (feel free to correct me).
It is a huge painting using expression through colour to evoke a feeling in the viewer. Seeing a photo of this, is not the same, this painting is an experience, hence the size. Whilst I’m not a fan of abstract paintings myself I can appreciate them. As they’re designed for gallery viewing.
They can be quite evocative at scale. Like standing in a strange room.
It’s chromatic abstraction: the idea is to free the colour from the forms of the painting and make the colour itself the subject. My favourite quote about these works is “They have sometimes been regarded as philosophic statements made without artistic skill”.
The point is that this isn’t too challenging for a skilled painter (there is still skill even to painting uniform colour, painting be hard), but the idea, the intent, is purposefully represented.
Why does this matter?
Because the AI colour image there lacks that. It’s just machine go brrrrrr, spits out art.
This meme fails to understand the purpose of art. To be expressive. It’s not about the complexity or the subject. But the purpose.
Well rendered does not mean good art. Just like simple doesn’t mean bad art.
Dont be a philistine. Learn about art and its reasons for being, even if the style isn’t something you’re interested in.
Art is expression, emotion, culture and even philosophy. A deeper understanding of these subject only helps you better understand yourself and those around you.
If AI is truly your tool then why aren’t you learning your fundamentals and picking up a pencil? A real creative would explore a myriad of ways to create the exact image they have in their minds eye.
If you’re struggling with uncertainty, low mood, struggling to like yourself today or are just exhausted & overwhelmed by everything, hey, me too, you’re not alone-this photo’s for you and your brain. Sending love 🌿
@__DreamSeeker__@ninaturner Using craiglist for roommates is real sketch! To each his own, but would not be my choice. All for being frugal, but all for being safe, too.
@Callaxes Artist of the quoted tweet is Valeriy Kagounkin.
Had to do a lot of digging as well! From Siberia. Look under "2019" here: https://t.co/Xg6liJGFvT
Here is a similar painting of his as a bonus.
