A disastrous relationship inspired one of Limp Bizkit’s defining songs. Fred Durst wrote “Nookie” about repeatedly returning to a girlfriend who treated him badly, turning the experience into a huge nu-metal anthem. The track appeared on their 1999 second album Significant Other and helped push the band into the mainstream. At Woodstock ’99, “Nookie” became part of the notorious performance that cemented Limp Bizkit as one of the era’s biggest bands.
