Partners In Health announced that its founder, Dr. Paul Farmer, unexpectedly passed away today in his sleep while in Rwanda.

Dr. Farmer was 62 years old. He is survived by his wife, Didi Bertrand Farmer, and their three children.

@BanksBenitez I like the sentiment here, but it’s a vast overstatement. Direct service is an essential part of the mix and there are lots of selfless people who do it. Just requires an acceptance that the work is alleviating pain (worthwhile), not solving the problem.
