It's easy for product teams to bias towards building for power users vs. new users, but this is often a mistake.

Power users are vocal - they'll complain on social, in your community, and more. New users, meanwhile, will just stop using your product if their experience sucks.

Ironically, the more feature rich a product becomes, the worse the new user experience usually gets. The worst offender is logging into a product for the first time only to get overwhelmed by tooltips for features that different PMs want to promote.

I often have to remind myself that attracting and retaining new users is how products actually grow.

Has anyone found a great way to build strong feedback loops with new users?

Messi will be paid an annual salary of $41 million at PSG.

But in the first 24 hours of his arrival, the club has already sold 832,000 jerseys, bringing in ~$105 million in revenue.

The club keeps around 10%, so that's $10.5 million in profit on the first day.

If you think that a startup idea should be "protected" from being stolen, you still haven't understood how difficult building a startup really is.

I learnt product management the hard way.

15+ years. 10+ products across 4 startups. A few successful ones and many failures. And still learning.

Here are a few mental models.

Today we are announcing that beginning June 1, 2021, new content uploaded to Google Photos in “High Quality” (compressed) will now count toward your storage quota. This is a big change, so let me explain why:

For the last week, I have started each day by writing “What do I want?” at the top of a blank page.

It’s surprising how useful it is to keep asking yourself this question. Each time, my answers get more precise.

Once I know what I want, I translate the answer into action steps.

Delete your product backlog every six months. If it’s important, it will emerge again.

If not, you’ll save your team the mental anguish of rehashing something that will never see the light of day.
