Is Russia executing captured Ukrainian soldiers?
Over the past year, the Eyes on Russia team at CIR have monitored videos and photographs, published online, claiming to show executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian forces.
The numbers have surged in recent months.
In our new film on YouTube, we show how each of the 80 deaths we have logged could potentially amount to a war crime.

You can spot her name in international media outlets as well as in the news talking about Russian invasion-related issues.
With Hannah Gelbart from BBC, Belén contributed to this investigation showing how a UK-registered company launders Kremlin disinformation👉https://t.co/iiJUbWlQq6
1/9 Today, as every day, CIR is standing up for women, continuing to combat online harms such as gendered abuse and disinformation women are facing.
We couldn't be more proud to have so many inspiring women in our ranks and as our partners, working endlessly to create a more just and equal world.

In the ♂️ dominated world of #OSINT, it is great to be surrounded by so many amazing ♀️ co-workers.
@Cen4infoRes has a huge list of badass women investigating human rights violations, war crimes, & disinformation. Most of them remain "in the shadows", but some are around:
2 years ago today, Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. On this grim occasion, CIR is introducing the #24Feb2022 series to highlight the immense scale of destruction Russia has caused in #Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Donetsk, Kherson, and Kharkiv Oblasts have experienced the highest number of verified incidents of damage and civilian harm. Check out our latest video comparing key Ukrainian cities before and after the full-scale invasion👇
“Acoustic security” is a bit of a red herring, but nevertheless this is a (mostly) accurate and helpful summary for Russian speakers of our @CHRussiaEurasia event on Russian information warfare with @olgatokariuk, @93Bcr, @JoyceHakmeh yesterday.

Fabulous panel about Ukrainian resilience to Russian information and cyber warfare, and lessons for countries facing their own high-stakes events in 2024… elections. Thank you @KeirGiles@93Bcr@olgatokariuk at @ChathamHouse 🇺🇦
1/3📢NEW CIR report mapping damage to civilian infrastructure in Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The #EyesonRussia report was conducted in partnership with volunteer open-source investigator @falconer_alexis.
Earlier this month, we travelled to Dnipro, Ukraine, where our #EyesonRussia team conducted a series of training sessions in cooperation with the European Union Advisory Mission (@EUAM_Ukraine).
In partnership with EUAM, CIR worked with prosecutors, investigators and judges from Luhansk, Donetsk and Dnipro regional offices on #OSINT for war crime accountability in #Ukraine.
“We have been working for over a year with Ukraine-state institutions, local and international partners to hold Russia accountable for its crimes in the country, and there is much more work to be done.” - Belén Carrasco Rodríguez (@93Bcr), project director at Eyes on Russia.
📢CIR has reached the milestone of having verified 15,000 entries on our #EyesOnRussiaMap. These entries include verified footage of Russian military movements, civilian casualties and civilian infrastructure damage related to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Thanks to all of our investigators at #CIR, our partners @bellingcat, @GeoConfirmed, @C4ADS, and Geomouse, and the open-source community for making this map possible.
Thank you for organising such an important forum @eskakasprzyk.
It was a pleasure to speak about @Cen4infoRes efforts to disarm influence operations.
See you at next Cybersec.
Gdzie leży granica pomiędzy wolnością słowa a koniecznością ingerencji w nią w celu zwalczania dezinformacji?🤔
