#BREAKING: Ontario Tourism Minister Stan Cho has billed taxpayers $16,203 for downtown Toronto hotel rooms, citing the significant distance between Queen's Park and his home, which is 5.9 kilometres away. The commute, described by transit officials as "seven stops, no transfer," has been named among the most gruelling in the province by absolutely no one.

Cho, who as a cabinet minister is also provided a taxpayer-funded car and driver, is reported to have persevered through the hardship by checking into hotels at an escalating rate, starting at $1,431 a year in 2023 and reaching $11,691 last year, suggesting the 5.9 kilometres are getting longer.

In 2018, Cho tweeted that the party with the taxpayers' money was over. Following questions from Global News, the Minister announced he would personally repay any expense that does not meet the spirit of the policy, a figure his office is expected to calculate as soon as someone shows them a map.

Nineteen other Ford MPPs, all living within 50 kilometres of the legislature, have reportedly been enduring similar commutes at a combined cost to taxpayers of $121,409. The Premier's office was asked whether the expenses were reasonable; it did not respond, presumably from a hotel. More to follow tomorrow.
