The USDA is reporting a 52% drop from the state's 10-year average in wheat production.
That's not just a 52% drop in wheat. It's a reminder that when a crop fails, it's families who feel it first — at the kitchen table, when paying for groceries, buying school supplies, filling a prescription, or deciding whether they can afford to keep farming another year.
Lauren Boebert and her colleagues still have not passed a comprehensive, long-term Farm Bill, the critical legislation that could provide support and relief for our farmers. It's now three years over due. It's time for new representation.

1,200 former DOJ employees have just sent a letter urging Senators not to confirm Todd Blanche as AG:
"In the coming weeks, many will rightly underscore the corruption and abuses that have defined the Justice Department under Todd Blanche’s leadership: the vindictive prosecutions and investigations of the President’s foes; the deals designed to reward lawbreakers with taxpayer dollars; the erasure of accountability for January 6; the mishandling of the Epstein files; and the denigration of judges and repeated violations of their orders... For the sake of the institution where we once proudly served, we urge you to reject Todd Blanche’s nomination."

#BREAKING: Hayes: “…according to Haberman and Swan, the price to get into Trump’s good graces would be high. In conversations with a Republican fundraiser who acted as a go-between, Trump would DICTATE the number, the EXACT dollar figure he wanted her to extract from each CEO. Within days, they write, MILLIONS of dollars and then tens and hundreds of millions were pouring into Trump’s various fundraising accounts. Worth considering for a moment, what are those fundraising accounts for? Can’t run for president again. Can’t run for anything. Where’s that money going to go?”🤔
The USPS might stop postmarking mail on the same day it’s received. This affects voting by mail because the postmarked date can determine if a vote is counted.
We need to know if USPS has plans to address that. We FOIAed to find out.
[NEW] Cutting Legal Aid Across North Carolina
The newly proposed North Carolina state budget, passed by our state legislature last week, eliminates the primary source of free legal aid for North Carolinians facing civil litigation - like escaping domestic abuse, fighting slumlords, or small claims.
In the wake of Helene recovery, thousands of low-income North Carolinians have been faced with thorny legal issues around housing and deeds. @LegalAidNC has been a critical resource for these folks, who often can't afford to hire lawyers on long-term retainers. But the new NC state budget wipes out almost all support for this program entirely.
The worst part? Support for legal aid isn't even paid for by taxpayers. Legal aid for low-income NCians doesn't cost taxpayers a dime. Instead, the IOLTA program is funded by the combined interest on legal accounts held in escrow. It's a fully self-funding system - which NC lawmakers have now destroyed.

🚨HOLY SHIT: Trump says the quiet part out loud and reveals that his billionaire buddies don’t lose when the market is down and gain when it’s up. He calls it a “big beautiful game.”
This while Americans are paycheck to paycheck. Unbelievable.
Every week, these strange white crates leave a high-security Tesla compound in Lathrop, California.
They’re showing up near the Hoover Dam. At an Air Force base in Georgia. In the heart of New York City…
An estimated 4,000 of them are now spread across 48 locations in 14 states. And more roll out every week.
But you won’t see this on CNBC, and you won’t read about it in the Wall Street Journal.
Because these mystery Elon crates have nothing to do with electric vehicles, space, social media, crypto, biotech, robots, or AI…
The “mystery Elon crates” are Tesla Megapacks — grid-scale battery storage units being deployed across the country for utility, military, and commercial energy projects. Tesla is quietly building the backbone of America’s grid-storage infrastructure while everyone’s distracted by culture-war bullshit — but it is the actual story worth paying attention to.
No secret technology. No hidden invention. Just the most boring, most profitable, and arguably most important thing Tesla does — hidden in plain sight.
Can someone who lives in the kansas area please forward this to the authorities, i don't know what I'm able to do from Norway but this person randomly said this in my twitch chat and didnt comment further. RTs appreciated as I really need someone from kansas to see this.
Maureen Dowd has an op-ed in today’s New York Times entitled “Founding Father vs. Foundering Toddler” in which she compares and contrasts George Washington and Donald Trump. It includes quotes by author Ron Chernow who won a Pulitzer Prize for his biography of George Washington. Here are a few quotes (and a free link to the article is pasted below).
Ron Chernow: “I just can’t imagine two human beings who are more dissimilar than George Washington and Donald Trump. Washington was discreet, reserved, courteous — he avoided any kind of show or ostentation or self-promotion. With Donald Trump, it’s nonstop bragging and boasting and self-promotion that would have been, I think, completely alien to George Washington, and very much counter to his idea of the way that a public servant should behave.”
Maureen Dowd: “The hero who commanded the Continental Army was protective of the nascent democracy, realizing its fragility. Cadet Bone Spurs maliciously erodes it, seeing it as a hindrance to his lust for untrammeled power and cash grabs. . . One famously wouldn’t tell a lie. The other famously can’t stop telling lies.”
________
Trump spoke at Mt. Rushmore last night after buzzing over it twice in the 747 sky palace he got from Qatar and you paid to refurbish and he plans to keep. He said that those who aren’t loyal to him and supportive of his debasement of the presidency and his assault on our democratic republic are communists. “The Communist Party is made up of illegal immigrants, criminals and everybody that doesn’t want to work. . . It’s death, tyranny and the pursuit of evil.” That’s a hell of a way to describe the majority of Americans on the eve of America’s birthday who see Donald Trump for who he really is.
Lindsay Chervinsky, the executive director of the George Washington Presidential Library, said this about how she believed George Washington would feel about America’s 250th birthday: “I think the dominant feeling would be one of joy that the nation is still here, because most republics just don’t last that long, and he knew that.”
It’s up to us to prevent the demagogue the Founding Fathers feared from destroying the fragile democracy that George Washington entrusted to us.
