On December 10th, I defended my master's thesis, “The Ecological Dynamics of Decision-Making in Judo," at the Faculty of Human Kinetics. I am grateful to my family, friends, colleagues at @spertlab, and Professor @Duarterbparaujo for their support and inspiration.
Honored to join discuss how adaptable decision-making in combat sports can be shaped through practice—grounded in cutting-edge ecological dynamics research in judo at @spertlab.
Grateful for the invite, @TylerYearby. Excited to share and learn!

Today on @Progressaofi, a special guest!
Insightful. Challenging. Impactful. What’s the future of performance analysis? @Daniel_JCarrilh breaks it down.
Don’t miss it – tune in now! 🎙️🔥
Thank you, Daniel!
On 21 October, SpertLab hosted a seminar in collaboration with the Neuroscience Laboratory of the Colombian Olympic Committee (COC) - Ministry of Sport of Colombia. The seminar showcased cutting-edge research at the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, and sports expertise.
Manrique will be conducting his research internship at SpertLab until December, contributing to understanding how constraints-based methods can improve racket sports training.
@Duarterbparaujo co-authored a commentary about wayfinding, exploring it as a dynamic, reciprocal process of perception and action distributed across the organism and environment, published in Psychological Research. Read here: https://t.co/U2lwEc6pyO
Between 17 and 29 September, Paulo Tibério Saveca, professor at Escola Superior de Ciências do Desporto, Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, Mozambique, visited SpertLab to begin his postdoctoral research.
In an independent analysis using the Scopus database, John Ioannidis (Stanford University, USA) published a standardized analysis with information about the top 2% of researchers worldwide. The study examined the researchers' impact throughout their careers and, in 2023.
I had the pleasure of collaborating with and learning from @Henriquemsbrito throughout his exemplary and innovative PhD, which revealed that human performance is task- and environment-specific. On to new projects!
On July 25, @Henriquemsbrito, a researcher at SpertLab, held the public defense of his doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Human Kinetics, entitled "The Performance-enhancing Experience of Nature-based Exercise: An Ecological Dynamics Approach".
Fantastic keynote from Duarte Araujo (@Duarterbparaujo) to begin Day 4 discussing on perception-action affordances and ecological dynamics in sport performance 🤩
Today saw the end of the 3rd edition of the postgraduate course "Technologies and Data Analysis in Sport".
It's been two weeks of intense work on data processing, analysis and visualization in sport!
It's a pleasure to have accompanied another edition. See you next year!
