The Mogadishu Port Authority @MPortAuthority is proud to announce that the Port of Mogadishu has been named East Africa's most efficient gateway in the 2024 Container Port Performance Index (CPPI).
Published by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence on September 24, the CPPI evaluated 407 ports globally, including 47 in Africa. The rankings are based on the total time vessels spend in port, from arrival to departure.
Mogadishu Port ranked 163rd worldwide, significantly outperforming regional competitors like Berbera (243rd), Dar es Salaam (360th), Djibouti (364th), and Mombasa (375th). This places Mogadishu among Africa's top five performers, alongside Port Said (Egypt), Tanger-Mediterranean (Morocco), Dakar (Senegal), and Toamasina (Madagascar).
According to Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur @AmbAmerico Director General of the Mogadishu Port Authority, this achievement proves that a port can be competitive on a global scale even without massive infrastructure investments. This success contributes to Somalia's growing influence in regional and international trade.
