Steve Hansen on the art of coaching 👇
🗣️”The job of the coach is to take something that’s complex and complicated and make it simple… In rugby, we continually over coach them, we over complicate things that should be simple messages.”

@TacticalThinker@SundayShare10 I tend to do a ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ takes
Straight after the session (hot) I’ll write down initial thoughts in my notepad. Typically looks at what went well / not so well
I’ll then do a more detailed review the day after (cold) looking at did i achieve the aim, future tweaks etc
Agreed! As coaches, we need to try to hit that ZPD sweet spot.
The difficulty is in assessing the skills gap between players within a team. A constraints led approach can help here along with adaptions made using STEP principles.

@SoccerCoaching2 I tried explaining this concept to my U17s using the gym.
If you are benching 50kg week in week out then don’t expect to suddenly be able to bench 70kg when required to do so.
You need to push yourself and train hard to be able to perform at the next level.
Time will tell…
@RFCoach_ For me:
Pep
Klopp
Ancelotti
De zerbi and Nagelsmann both great though. Tuchel is great too IMO but winds people up the wrong way by the looks of it
Players messing around at training?
Here's some tips on how to manage that:
• Set clear rules
• Give players ownership
• Keep them busy
• Make it fun
• Let them talk
