Been a very great experience last two days immersing myself in the world of intraoperative ultrasound in neurosurgery
and meeting new colleagues from all over the UK.
The team @GEHealthCare and @Brainlab@LeedsNeuro Mr Ryan Mathew and Mr William Lo were excellent
Loved it!
Speaking at the Africa CEO Forum Presidential Panel yesterday evening in Kigali, I re-emphasised that Africa must put Africa first whilst creating opportunities for intra-Africa collaboration between our countries.
Our continent cannot build scale by looking outward first. We must invest in one another, trade more with one another, build the corridors that connect our markets, ensure our innovative youthful population get the support they need, and give African businesses the confidence to expand across African borders.
Nigeria’s reforms are not only about fixing yesterday. They are about preparing our economy to lead in the Africa of tomorrow. With AfCFTA, digital trade, shared infrastructure, stronger logistics, commodities exchange, and deeper private sector partnerships, we can turn Africa’s population and resources into real continental prosperity. The global risk and financial architecture must also give Africa a fair deal that recognises our local nuances and contexts.
I thank my brother, President Paul Kagame, for his warm hospitality and for Rwanda’s continued leadership in showing what discipline, clarity and execution can do for development.
Nigeria will continue to work with Rwanda and other African partners to build a continent that produces more, trades more, connects better, and competes with greater confidence in the world.
Africa’s future will not be handed to us. We must build it, own it, and defend it together.

FRESH UPDATE!!!
MDCN CPD Training Platform: Clarifications from the Registrar
You may recall that the attention of the NMA NOC led by Prof Afekhide Ernest Omoti was drawn to the above subject matter and we promised to commence necessary engagement.
The Registrar of @MDCNOfficial, Prof Fatima Kyari, has clarified as follows:
1. The MDCN CPD Training Platform is optional and not compulsory.
2. The platform only provides another window/ platform for practitioners to access the compulsory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) policy of the MDCN.
3. The courses provided on the platform are high quality CPD courses approved by the MDCN but are not replacements for or with prejudice to existing CPD-providing platforms currently approved/ to be approved by the MDCN.
4. Practitioners will continue to have the option of either using the MDCN CPD Training Platform or any other existing (approved) training platforms for their CPD
5. Practitioners may try/ use the MDCN CPD Training Platform *free* until *31st May 2026* as indicated . Subscription fees shall apply thereafter
6. However, there will be mandatory courses for house-officers and NYSC doctors. These courses are *free* for the first two years of graduation (covers duration of housemanship and NYSC) after which they may opt out or continue to access their compulsory CPD training on the platform on subscription basis
6. There will be mandatory courses on the platform for MDCN resource persons. This is due to the fact that such training directly impacts on the work they do for Council.
7. CPD will remain a compulsory policy of the MDCN, irrespective of the platform from which such CPD trainings are sourced from.
8. MDCN will continue to require verification that practitioners have undertaken CPD no matter where such were sourced from.
The NMA NOC will continue to engage with members who may still require any further clarification
Thank you

Sixteen years have passed since we lost President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and it says a lot that, wherever you go, Nigerians still speak of him with such love and nostalgia. We lost a patriot, and I lost a dear brother.
He was a man of integrity and humility, deeply committed to peace and the well-being of everyday Nigerians. His approach to leadership continues to remind us of what true service to the nation should look like.
As we remember the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua today, I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) continues to grant him a place among the righteous in Aljannah Firdaus. Ameen.

Being a surgical resident posted to a busy general hospital for rural posting for 3 months in Ibadan is like being thrown inside deep water and told to swim or sink with no life jacket.
You're nearly the end of your rotations, only 3 more months in a rural general hospital and you can finally write that exam.
After seeing plenty shege in your teaching hospital, you think nothing can shock you again.
Oh boy.
You pack your bag from the teaching hospital with full chest: “This one na chance to do plenty hands-on cases, sharpen my skill before Part 2.”
You land for the general hospital for the outskirts of Ibadan.
You resume 8am. You even plan to watch a movie.
But by 11:30 you don already:
Consult 19 patients for surgical outpatient (mostly hernia wey don hang like mango, goitre wey big like football, and chronic leg ulcers wey dey smell like farm)
Booked 7 cases for theatre (no anaesthetist full time, so na spinal + insha'Allah)
Been called “oga doctor” by nurses and “oga resident” by the medical officers like 1 billion times.
Booked one emergency laparotomy for perforated typhoid and you're just waiting for anaesthetist to come and for family to make payment.
You're slowly realising that you made a big mistake.
The hospital busy pass Bodija market on Eleyele day. Yet with no proper ICU or blood bank.
You dey beg relatives to go donate blood before you touch knife.
Since morning, you never chop.
You never sit down.
But you don already walked from male surgical ward to female ward to casualty to the small theatre wey the AC dey blow hot.
You finally enter tire and finish the case under 2hrs.
You're proud of yourself.
By the time you come out, one farmer done come with machete injury, his hand almost cut off from fighting off herders on his farm.
You rush am to theatre, do debridement + repair under regional block (anaesthetist don go).
Mid-surgery, light off. When you ask why, nurse told you that gen fuel don finish again. You continue with phone torch + nurse headlamp.
By evening: them bring obstructed labour with suspected uterine rupture. You reject am saying you're not an obstetrician. CMD tell you say here na general hospital say you must do am.
You sigh.
You open am, repair, deliver baby, blood just dey flow like river Jordan. Transfuse am two pints.
By some luck, patient no die untop table but e white pass cotton wool.
By 11pm you still dey write op notes.
See you thinking you'd be able to watch a movie.
😂😂😂😂
When you think it can't possibly get any worse, dem serve you another round again.
By 12am, them rush one child with obstructed hernia wey bowel don turn black, and one old woman with breast cancer wey don fungate all at the same time.
You dey manage the two with 3 nurses and one sleepy medical officer. You quickly pass chest tube and call theater that you get emergency lap.
When you finish, you didn't even know how you got to the call room and slept till day break.
Fast forward 3 months like this.
You do more procedures than you've done in your 2 years in the teaching hospital with half the resources, zero supervision sometimes, and salary wey dey enter like visitor.
Last day of posting, you pack your things, look back at the faded green walls, the theatre wey tile don peel, the patients wey still dey call your name.
One old hernia elderly patient wey you repair wave: “Thank you oga doctor! God go bless you.”
You smile small, enter the keke that you booked to take you to carpark.
You think on the memories. How the rural posting has toughen you, e humble you, and how e show you say Naija surgery na real jungle.
I know we dey laugh through the fuel shortage, the late-night torch surgeries, the village cases wey dey too much but the experience and the exhaustion is real.
Week 2, Day 1 — Obstetrics & Gynaecology (LUTH) ✨
Today in theatre: Staging laparotomy + omental biopsy
Great day in modular theatre, finally getting a solid grasp of ovarian cancer staging, hemorrhagic ascites, and key intraoperative findings.
Every day, I’m learning to see beyond the textbooks and think like a doctor🥳
ARE YOU REALLY CERTAIN THAT PETER OBI WON LAGOS IN 2023? I HAVE ONE QUESTION FOR YOU .
See, I am a political scientist by training.
I wasn't a good student - I was good with activities not academics 😂.
Ds and Cs were my best records 😂😂.
But if there's one thing I learnt in those classes, it's to think like a scientist.
I like to question just everything and when I go even deeper I discovered that even most things society believe to be true were built on a wrong assumption.
One of those is the 2023 election Lagos miracle 😂.
See eh , save this post.
When Mr Peter Obi will write his biography he'll tell us he was surprised that he won Lagos more than his surprise that he lost Rivers because the two states were significant.
Imagine Jagaban losing Lagos ?🤣
A man who couldn't be defeated by even a powerful president like Chief Obasanjo?
And President Jonathan had no choice but work with him to deliver Lagos to PDP in 2011.
Don't deceive yourself.
Let's go analytical now .
Every voting momentum comes with a wave or tsunami.
Whether in America, India or Nigeria.
When the Obama wave came in 2016, it swept through Red states.
When the Trump wave came in 2016 and 2023 he won both houses in Congress.
When the Biden wave happened, we saw how they got the both houses?
And the Democratic wave is gradually happening again and you're seeing how they're taking Red territories in Texas, Virginia and other places.
It's setting the stage for the Democrats capturing Congress in November and the Presidency in 2028.
It's just that way.
In 2015 and 2019, the Buhari wave brought so many politicians who based on their weak personalities couldn't win elections on their own.
Also when they went against the wave in 2019 , they were thrown out .
The wave even threw away influential politicians.
Example was Former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso and so many others.
They lost their seats.
So usually when such waves happen, the effects don't leave suspicions. The impacts are assuring.
Think about this .
That election was done....
- Same day
- Same time
- Same voters
And yet Obi won the presidency in Lagos.
APC swept the 3/3 Senate seats in Lagos.
APC swept 20/24
LP got 3
PDP got 1.
A wave that swept the presidency should have gotten more than that.
Here's my conclusion.
Tinubu intentionally wanted to get defeated in Lagos to give those Buhari cabal who were plotting to cancel the elections no reasons to justify their planned actions.
Not that he had influence over the elections.
No
He could have asked the APC machine to slow down in churning out voters.
That can be done.
So if Jagaban lost Lagos to labour party, what excuse do you have to say the election was rigged?
Elections are mathematical.
Telling me Obi's wave won Lagos but couldn't have impact on elections done the same minute is not scientific.
It doesn't add up
And when it was time for Governorship election, remember the Obidients got even more angry for losing the presidency in Nigeria.
Then they claimed they were going to take Lagos?
So we should see a repeat of the wave maybe if not in the Governorship, but on the House of Assembly seats.
How many seats did they win?
APC — 38 seats
Labour Party (LP) — 2 seats
You see?
So be careful when banking on that 2023 result of Obi winning Lagos.
It's not correct mathematically.
And you'll see a proof of this in 2027.
Tinubu just wanted to survive in 2023 and that was why his strategy wasn't a "domino" one.
2027 strategy is "Maximum victory".
You'll be wondering where Obi's 6M votes went to.
Save this post.
