On February 20, 1949, J. Paul Getty risked $9.5 million on a patch of desert where nobody had found a single drop of oil. Four years later, that decision made him the richest man alive.
Getty bought a 60-year concession in the Neutral Zone between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The contract required another $1 million every year, plus royalties, whether the land produced oil or not. Competitors thought he had dramatically overpaid.
Then the wells came up dry.
Getty kept drilling while millions disappeared into the sand. There was no revenue, no proof, and no guarantee that the next hole would be different. After four years, oil was finally discovered. Production climbed into the millions of barrels, and in 1957 Fortune named Getty the richest living American.
“Money is secondary. Nobody makes money unless they run a mint.”
Getty understood that fortunes are not built by collecting money. They are built by controlling an asset that can keep producing it.
He did not become rich when the oil appeared. He became rich in 1949, when he secured ownership of the opportunity and remained solvent long enough to discover what it contained.
The interview is free. The willingness to own something valuable before the evidence becomes obvious is where the fortune begins.

For those who don’t really know about the Man City charges, let me summarise for you, especially what the 115 charges are.
The whole summary of this case is that Man City were spending more than they were earning for 9 years (2009-2018)
Their Arab owners were pumping money into the club, but they were covering it up as sponsorship deals and legit revenue.
In fact, in that 9 years, they had an Abu-Dhabi sponsorship for instance, that paid about £120m, but City declared about £950m.
Let’s not forget why FFP & PSR rules exist. The idea is make sure that clubs are not spending more than they’re earning. Man City wanted to spend more than they were earning, so they inflated their sponsorship revenues.
The way City were caught was even funnier. A hacker stumbled on an email in 2018 and that’s how it got out. If not for this hacker, maybe nobody would have ever known.
The Premier League & UEFA began investigation. UEFA found them guilty, banned them for 2 years and fined them €30m. City went to CAS, think of CAS as the Supreme Court in Sports, they’re also independent.
CAS lifted the ban UEFA gave City & reduced the fine to €10m. The €10m was because City did not cooperate with the investigation.
Regarding the shady sponsorship deals, CAS said UEFA had insufficient evidence. Secondly, UEFA has a time limit where they can only prosecute within 5 years (their own rule). One of the main sponsorship deals was an Etisalat deal in 2012/13, and UEFA were bringing it up in 2019.
CAS said it was more than 5 years and that’s how UEFA kinda lost the case. On the other hand, Premier League does not have a time limit, hence, they can investigate cases as far back as 2009.
Many of you always say “115 charges”, but do you know what these charges are?
1. Failure to provide accurate financial reports for player and manager compensation (2009-2018) - 14 charges
2. Failure to provide accurate and up-to-date financial information (2009-2018) - 54 charges
3. Failure to comply with UEFA's regulations, including Financial Fair Play Regulations - 5 charges
4. Breaching Premier League Profitability and Sustainability (PSR) regulations (2015-2018) - 7 charges
5. Failure to co-operate with Premier League investigations (2018-2023) - 35 charges
Most of these were not under Pep. They happened before Pep. It’s reported that they were under Hughes, Mancini, and Pellegrini. In this timeframe, Man City won 3 premier leagues, first was the AGUERROOOOOOO moment. They also won 1 FA Cup and 3 League Cups.
For the 14 charges (number 1), I read somewhere that City were paying a manager a different wage from what was reported, for 4 years (only Mancini spent 4 years, so it’s allegedly the one).
For Pep Guardiola, the major breach that happened under him was the cooperation part (35 charges). City were not cooperating with the investigation.
Lastly, City has 14 days to appeal which is due this Friday. The appeal will go to an independent panel for review. Don’t forget what the Premier League called all of those deals, “sham” deals.
I watched City Group’s CEO earlier today, Ferran Soriano. He said they have irrefutable evidence that they did nothing wrong. He’s standing on business.
Anyways, I’d leave you to what City chairman, Khaldoon al-Mubarak said in 2014. He said he would rather spend £30m on the best 50 lawyers in the world and sue UEFA for the next 10 years than agree a financial penalty for alleged FFP breaches. He might want to apply this to the Premier League.
There are different punishments if City lose the appeal, but the premier league does not have standalone punishments per breach for now, so it’s how they deem fit.
What is most likely to happen is Points deduction and fine just like that of Everton, maybe a transfer ban too. I might be welcoming Enzo and Haaland to Bramall Lane next season, I’ll definitely get a picture💃🏼
Hope this was easy to understand?
Ronaldo scored his 900th goal in September 2024 and has added just 79 goals since.
Messi scored his 900th in March 2026 and has already added 31. 😭
There will be some uncomfortable conversations today. 😭😂
🚨 "At the Beijing Olympics with Siasia, we had to wear the girls' kits for the second round and the rest. Apparently, they thought we were not going to get far. They sent all the kits back home to give away or whatever. Then we made it out of the group, and the American team is saying, 'you guys are wearing the same clothes all the time'... Some of us went to buy plain white t-shirts..."

IMPORTANT FOOD FACTS THAT SOUND FAKE BUT ARE TRUE!
1. Ginger works as well as ibuprofen for pain.
Trials put ginger head-to-head with ibuprofen for arthritis and period pain and found no real difference. Same relief, without tearing up your stomach.
2. Cloves have more antioxidants than any food on earth.
More than blueberries, pomegranate, and acai combined. In the biggest antioxidant study ever done, over 3,100 foods, ground cloves came in at number one. A pinch of your tea does more than a shelf of expensive supplements.
3. Moringa leaves have more protein than beef, ounce for ounce, dried.
Dried moringa runs about 25 to 29% protein. Beef is around 26%. And it carries every essential amino acid, more calcium than a glass of milk, and more vitamin A than a carrot. One tablespoon.
4. Dandelion, the weed you rip out of your yard, beats most of the produce in your store.
More beta-carotene than carrots. More calcium than milk. More iron than spinach. Plus compounds that help your liver and kidneys clear out waste.
You've been poisoning it. It's been trying to feed you.
5. Broccoli needs to be chopped and left to sit for 40 minutes before you cook it.
Sulforaphane, one of the most-studied cancer-fighting compounds in any food, only forms once the plant is cut. Cook it whole and you get almost none. Chop it, let it rest, then cook it light. The preparation is the medicine.
6. Oregano holds more antioxidants than most berries, fresh or dried.
In that same study, dried oregano landed in the top five spices on earth. It's full of rosmarinic acid and quercetin, both studied for calming inflammation and fighting off microbes. A teaspoon is working harder than you think.
7. The white pith of a lemon is more medicinal than the juice.
That spongy white layer everyone scrapes off carries hesperidin and naringenin, flavonoids studied for lowering blood pressure, easing inflammation, and protecting your blood vessels. The juice is mostly acid.
Most people throw the medicine in the trash.
8. Turmeric without black pepper is almost a waste.
On its own, only about 5% of curcumin, turmeric's healing compound, actually absorbs. Add black pepper and that jumps by roughly 2,000%.
South Asia has paired the two for thousands of years. They didn't have a lab. They had eyes, and time.
None of this came from a lab. It came from the ground, and from people paying attention. Food was always the medicine. 🙏
The Fulani Man Who Defeated His Own Party To Rule Enugu Again
Malam Umaru Altine was a Fulani man from Sokoto Province. He was not from Enugu but he made history there.
He came to Enugu as a cattle dealer and settled at Coal Camp where the coal miners lived. There he married an Igbo lady named Esther, and that made him even closer to the people.
He entered politics through the Zikist Movement where he served as Secretary General and later became Vice Chairman of the NCNC Youth Association in Enugu. He was a loyal member of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe's NCNC party.
Because he was loved by the ordinary people at Coal Camp, the NCNC nominated him to contest for Mayor. He won the election in 1952 and became the first elected Mayor of Enugu Municipal Council. He served from 1952 to 1956.
When his first term ended, some leaders in the NCNC decided they wanted an Igbo man as Mayor.
They asked Altine to step down and they brought out a new candidate named D.T. Inyang to replace him.
Altine refused to step down.
He resigned from the NCNC and contested as an Independent candidate. To the surprise of many, he defeated the NCNC candidate and won his second term.
He was re-elected as Mayor and served from 1956 to 1958.
He was known for wearing his babban riga and turban to office, sometimes a suit, and for going to church and football fields whenever his duty as Mayor required it. He grew up in the palace of Sultan Siddiq Abubakar of Sokoto who reigned for 50 years.
He is remembered today as proof that Nigeria once practiced politics without tribe.

Back in 2003, a German film crew filming in the Gobi Desert captured an incredibly moving moment: after a tough two-day birth, a mother camel rejected her newborn. A nomadic family then performed the ancient Hoos singing ritual passed down for generations. Once the song ended, the camel shed tears and finally accepted her baby. This powerful scene became one of the most memorable parts of the Oscar-nominated documentary The Story of the Weeping Camel.
