@zlingerrr How crusty are the actual contacts? You might be lucky and there’s just some crud preventing good contact with the battery.

Otherwise the contact-to-board wires are probably corroded. Probably not a hard fix if you can figure out how to open the case and have a soldering iron.

@momstinfoilhat And if you’re in a miserable climate or looking for consistent long or overnight smokes, the big green egg is on the expensive side but also incredibly well insulated.

Just avoid cheap offset smokers at all cost, they suck. Decent offsets are great but very expensive.

@momstinfoilhat The Weber smoky mountain is a great choice, not too expensive, but fussy to get going smooth. I love it because fussing around with the grill is part of why I love smoking. If you’re handy a drum smoker is the same thing made out of a steel barrel for even cheaper.
