@LegoRacers2@bipedleek My “tinfoil” theory is that GRRM only belatedly realized he had a character named Pyke and the capital of the iron islands was also Pyke and he made a quiet retcon, which is why the iron island bastard name is both kind of wack and not like any of the others
@Mel4Chrgrs It’s a literary masterpiece. A satire, a love story and a personal cosmography wrapped into one. And it has a giant cat swinging from a chandelier while shooting a handgun
@gracecthdralprk@ettingermentum Perhaps only lightly related, but “how did it come to be that black pepper is ubiquitously paired with salt on western tables” is a question I’ve often wondered and never seen a convincing answer to
@neosovietposter lol despite the rhetoric I think even Orban knows better than to turn off the tap from Brussels. You’re gonna have to sell a lot of goulash to Americans to balance the budgets after that
@viperwave The bathroom was in the basement & one time I was at the urinal & I heard steps hurrying down the stairs, the door open and then felt something bump against my back. I turned around to see my buddy groaning in pain on the floor, having tried to jumpkick me. Great little theater
@LegoRacers2 No surprise on the last bit because it was an adaptation of a popular broadway play, where Lugosi first made his name in America. Not to mention re-used footage from a silent film and a Spanish-language version filmed on the same sets during night-shoots
@LegoRacers2 For as influential as it was, Dracula has a lot of quirks of the very short window of the early talkies: no music except over the credits, long stretches of silence, static camera, long sequences of silence and stage play-style blocking
@RadishHarmers@nut_bunnies Couldn’t agree more. SMB3 and World feel like going on an adventure. The modern 2d platformers feel like playing a bunch of Mario levels in random order. Which can be dun for a while but starts feeling stale
@Sturgeons_Law Reminds me of a local takeout shack that sells, in descending order by number of menu items: Indian, Chinese, Greek and Italian foods as well as steaks
