I applaud @chicagosmayor for welcoming these vulnerable individuals. This stunt by Gov. Abbott does nothing to improve the situation at our border. I urge Republicans in Congress to stop stonewalling & work with me to make desperately needed reforms to our immigration system.
Unfortunately, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is without any shame or humanity. But ever since he put these racist practices of expulsion in place, we have been working with our community partners to ready the city to receive these individuals.
NEWS: Today, the City of Chicago received confirmation that approximately 60 migrants were traveling to Chicago by way of Texas. Chicago is a welcoming city and as such has collaborated across various departments and agencies to ensure we greeted them with dignity and respect.
FYI: There have been 102 known Pro-Chicago decisions in 2022, with 68 expansions and 34 new locations.
There have also been 15 investments on the South or West sides.
More and more companies are betting on Chicago.

"As Mayor of one of America’s largest and most diverse cities, I know how important it is to address the climate concerns of our residents and create more resilient, healthy, and safe communities." - @chicagosmayor
"I am also thrilled that this announcement comes on the cusp of enactment of the Inflation Reduction Act, which passed the Senate yesterday. I’d like to congratulate @POTUS and @SenateDems." - @chicagosmayor
🧵This is a major achievement of Chicago’s Climate Action Plan goals announced earlier this year, which outlines our plan to accelerate the green economy and drive local benefits for Chicago residents. Read more here: https://t.co/9HRtdOoYRj
🧵This agreement with @ConstellationEG and #SwiftCurrentEnergy will support new solar development in the state of IL and a first-of-its-kind community benefits agreement for clean energy workforce development and the development of community climate infrastructure in Chicago.
As the third largest city in the country, we have a duty to mitigate the disastrous effects of climate change. I am proud to announce that the City is committed to transitioning municipal buildings to 100% renewable energy by 2025. 🧵
By committing to a rapid, 100% transition away from dirty fossil fuels, Chicago will save money by investing in homegrown Illinois clean energy that is not subject to the volatility in gas prices worsened by Russia’s war on Ukraine and corporate price-gouging. #CEJAworks
We applaud @chicagosmayor and the City of Chicago for taking bold action that works with CEJA to protect our climate, cut energy costs for consumers, taxpayers and small businesses, and create equitable clean energy jobs! #CEJAworks
