After I finish drinking this water I can refill it, instead of throwing it away which can reduce the amount of plastic in landfills! @franklinlorax#apeswaste
Did you know that 55% of all waste that is produced in the US goes into sanitary landfills? These landfills not only take up space, but also produce leachate which has the potential to contaminate water sources #apeswaste@franklinlorax
Cars emit carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen oxides that contribute to acid rain, smog formation, and the greenhouse gas effect #apesair@franklinlorax
While driving, our cars emit carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide which are GHGs, that contribute to global warming. Thankfully our cars have catalytic converters that try to make these less harmful! @franklinlorax#apesair
@tk508704apes@GF513311apes@franklinlorax Reducing the amount of pollutants that are human caused will make an impact to reduce acid rain, carpool, save energy, and recycle!
Snow has the highest albedo which means that sunlight will reflect off of the snow and be put back into the atmosphere, blacktops however have a very low albedo. #apesair@franklinlorax
My house uses LED light bulbs rather than CFL bulbs or incandescent bulbs. LED’s have a lower wattage/higher efficiency helping save energy and money! #apesenergy@franklinlorax
@EF510414apes @franklinlorax I agree! Learning about the different types of ways to produce energy was helpful in knowing if or how they harm the environment.
after watching the video about land use I learned how urban sprawl is mainly an issue in the United States due to the fact the cities in the US formed later than those in Europe and the US had an increase in highway structure #apesland
Was super cool to learn about mining and everything involved with reclamation and what goes on during the process. Even cooler to see just how oxidation occurs through this lab! #apesland@franklinlorax
