@nicklepage9 The Conservatives consistently have the worst fiscal record of the three major political parties, at both the Federal and Provincial level. They have for many many decades.

@nicklepage9 That 2015 surplus was fictional. It was an election budget that never got passed because the Conservatives lost. They ran a deficit every year they were in office, & got to the theoretical surplus by cutting defense to less than 1% of GDP & scrapping a lot of Veterans services.
@JustinH31123559@AtDavyJones@MikeBales 1. No they don't. It has only happened once in an election they didn't win overall.
2. Even if they did, that's meaningless, since popular vote doesn't decide anything outside the boundaries of each individual riding.
@liljoey1977@JGWorldMonitor@AtDavyJones@MikeBales And if an election were held today, the Liberals would win another 25 or more seats, all at the expense of the Conservatives.

@AtDavyJones@MikeBales You wouldn't be happy. In terms of policies they would support, the majority of Alberta's Conservatives are very similar to American Democrats.
@Hush_Kit Most Western militaries are dependent on the US. Consider for a moment what happens if the US blocks, or even just degrades, GPS. That impacts everything from the biggest ship to the smallest infantry unit. Choosing the Gripen will not have a significant impact on our dependency.
@dkrider4life@NoGunsInCanada A 12" will run 1,100 to 1,600 calories, not counting cheese or condiments. Cookies are 200+ calories each. That lunch could easily add up to more calories than an average adult should consume in a day. (If we have to resort to Subway my wife & I always split a 12" & no cookie.
@KirkLubimov@9781118555927_ Conservatives in one form or another have governed Alberta for most of 100 years. The NDP had four years. It's ridiculous to think the NDP is significantly responsible for any current problems.
@NeoScooch@gator_gum Notice how the CBC story never mentions a contract for F-35s, unlike there was for ships, but does mention how the attempt had been cancelled following an investigation by the Auditor General.
BTW, your second link is to the Trudeau government's announcement of the purchase.
@NeoScooch@gator_gum I'm talking about facts. Despite the sensational headline the reality is Harper campaigned on a sole source contract, but never pursued it. Trudeau campaigned on running a competition instead, which he did. Again, Harper never budgeted for them or signed a contract.
@ToonTownDano@DisneyTory Sure. The production line in Brazil took 12 years before it delivered its first Gripen, and it's not like the Brazilians are short on experience at building airplanes.
@DeepSeaGhost@calisurfsup Nope. It's a fact. Here is the OHIP website giving those exact numbers..

@LillllyWhyte@CTVToronto You know that everything you've complained about is handled by the Provincial government, right? Ontario's government is Conservative. Has been for some time. Pretty sure "liberals" are not the problem.
@ToonTownDano@DisneyTory The availability is largely a product of supply chain issues for spares. A lot of that is because of the production rate... 191 last year. Suppliers will catch up. SAAB's current production rate for the Gripen is 12 per year.
@NeoScooch@gator_gum This is false. In 2010 Harper said he intended to buy F-35s, but his government never signed a contract or allocated so much as a dime towards a purchase. He made the same promise in 2015, & again did nothing. Trudeau did not cancel them in 2016. There was nothing to cancel.
