More than eighty years after the defeat of fascism, Victory Day remains a living tradition- preserved not only in history books, but in music, community, and collective memory.
Members of the local Soviet diaspora and the American Communist Party gathered on May 10th to commemorate Victory Day and honor the generations who fought against fascism in the Great Patriotic War.
This May Day weekend, ACP Illinois and @ACP_Wisconsin did more than just march in remembrance of those who fought before us. We took things a step further, honoring their legacy by serving the people with concrete action: restoring a natural area for our neighbors to enjoy, and standing shoulder to shoulder with workers of USW Local 7-1 who’ve been illegally locked out of the BP oil refinery in Whiting, Indiana.

Last week, ACP Washington went north to help an elderly Elwha tribal member needing to move closer to the tribe to be taken care of but not having the resources or ability to rip out and install new a sink or remove old large lawn pieces.
Comrades volunteered their time and labor to help and made further ties with other members of the tribe who also need a helping hand around the reservation.
We had been told that a small number of activist groups have come to these areas to provide volunteer work in the past only to leave the work unfinished or not started. When Communists volunteer their time, they stick to their word.
ACP Washington celebrated Victory Day with the local Russian community in Seattle with the laying of flowers at the Garden of Remembrance. In the evening, chapter members helped set up the main event and joined in the performances of the songs: Katyusha, Smuglianka, and Cossacks in Berlin.
The American Communist Party of Texas joined veterans, families, and working people for Victory Day in Dallas to remember the shared victory over fascism and keep alive a simple lesson from history: friendship between peoples, peace between nations, and never another world war.

This May Day, ACP PA and @ACP_NJ gathered in Philadelphia. We cleaned hundreds of gallons of trash off the streets in North Philly, connecting with our neighbors along the way. Then we stood in solidarity with our fellow workers at the May Day rally. We wrapped up the day with a celebration together with our friends and allies from outside the party, mapping out our next moves to continue to grow our movement.
