Between August 8 and 11 in 1933, the Iraqi army entered the Assyrian town of Simele and its surroundings, and massacred 6,000 Assyrians. August 7th is Assyrian Martyrs Day, where Assyrians worldwide commemorate and remember the victims of the 1933 Simele massacre ✝️🕯
