Today’s EU & UNICEF Humanitarian Air Bridge will deliver 100 tonnes of aid to fight #Ebola in the DRC: medicines, protective gear, tents & more.
We’re acting fast: €15M in new humanitarian assistance announced Friday, on top of €87M allocated for the Great Lakes this year.
This development is in addition to support made to identify the strain, strengthen Ebola tracking, accelerate sequencing, investment in research for vaccines, and support to clinical trial readiness for therapeutics.

As a strong & reliable global actor, the EU stands by the side of its African partners.
We are allocating an additional €15 million in humanitarian assistance to respond to the Ebola outbreak in the DRC & Uganda, supporting emergency operations.
The EU cofinanced @WHOAFRO Hub in Dakar has already delivered 6.3 tonnes of critical supplies to DRC, with more on the way.
Through the PAMTA partnership between the Commission and @AfricaCDC, detection kits will be provided to accelerate testing & sequencing.
Ebola outbreak in eastern DRC & Uganda: our teams & partners are already in critical sites on the ground, strengthening surveillance, contact tracing & providing support in high-risk border areas.
With €2M from #EU4Health, @AfricaCDC will use wastewater surveillance to track #Ebola & other pathogens. @EU_HERA’s €7.4M for @WHO’s R&D Blueprint will help fast-track vaccine & treatment trials, turning science into lifesaving action.
The @EU_Commission announced €73.7m in #HorizonEurope support to @CEPIvaccines for 2026–2027.
