My prediction for software engineering over the next 3 to 5 years.

AI won't replace software engineers. It'll drive even greater demand for them.

A team of 5 experienced engineers using AI will outperform a team of 20 pre-AI.

Which will dramatically reduce the cost of building software.

I think we'll see Jevons paradox in action. As something becomes cheaper and more efficient to produce, demand for it can increase dramatically.

Thousands of software projects that previously weren't economically viable will become worth doing.

The winners will be companies, big and small, that behave like Google, Amazon and 3M, with a culture of experimentation, a willingness to try lots of ideas and the discipline to kill their darlings.

TL/DR: Smaller engineering teams, more innovation, more software products, and potentially more software engineers than ever.

My mind is blown by how far ahead Apple is with local LLMs. The new Mac Studio M5 Ultra will have a 512 GB model for around 15-20k. You can chain 6 of them together using thunderbolt 5 and this have over 3 TB of ram and a massive amount of CPU and GPU cores. This means you can run a frontier model with over 2 trillion parameters locally for around 100kish. Nivida is around 500k for the same capability.

I wonder why CCP paid @SaraGonzalesTX never talks about the H2B visas?

140,000 H2B visas are issued annually and 65% of those H2B visas are given to Mexicans.
These visas are not even high skilled jobs. These are jobs taken away from middle class Americans.
Jobs such as construction, plumbing, accounting, restaurant and kitchen.

Does America not have people to do these jobs? Why do 140,000 foreigners come in annually and take American jobs and CCP paid propagandists like Sara Gonzales remain quiet on these issues?

Notice how she never talks about the fentanyl Mexico smuggles into the US that kills hundreds of thousands of Americans either.
Not only do mexicans get American middle class jobs, they also use these jobs to smuggle fentanyl into the US.

This needs to be investigated and stopped.
