Happy to share that I'm now a Postdoc fellow in Forestry at @teagascforestry working on the @ADAPTForRes Research Project looking at the adaptation and protection of Irish forests in order to increase their resilience. (Still have to hand in my Thesis at @OxfordBiology lol)

We have two new post graduate positions on the AdaptForRes project who will be working on Pillar 1 - Forest genetic options.
1. The first is a Masters study entitled “Water Use Efficiency of Diverse Sitka spruce families https://t.co/3r16ynZqzF
We have sampled DNA from over 1271 trees across 86 native woodland sites. We're using advanced next-gen sequencing to uncover genetic diversity levels in key gene regions that could help our trees thrive in future climates. 🌿🧬#ClimateResilience#ADAPTForRes@NBGGlasnevinOPW

One of the takeaways from Friday's field trip- European Spruce bark beetle (ips typographus) is larger than our native bark beetle (see 👇) but both v.tiny! The right photo shows our native beetles' gallery (+white larvae)-ips t. has a distinct linear pattern like a palm leaf
