Top) OH HELL NAW. I absolutely HATED THIS ROLE. So much of the role feels determined by matchup & sometimes you get weaksided and stuck in hoping that your other side of the map performs. Knowing which matchups you win and at what stages you win them is essential.
Most played champ & which account to role:
Trraverse Town - ADC : Draven
Castle Crashers - Support : Pyke
TheSomberSoul - Jungle : Kha' Zix
Mid Soul - Mid : Syndra
Souls Worst Role - Top : Poppy
Mid) This role felt somewhat similar to ADC for me. Farm well - position well - do DMG. The biggest MUST with mid-laners is understanding which post (4 torches around mid) to lean toward in correspondence with your jungler/team. You will be fighting often. Kite towards team.
Jungle) I like to call this role the maze-runner. Jungle holds a lot of power in determining the result of a game. Understanding lane matchups & what lanes you need to support to create the best path to victory is essential. Camera usage is vital.
Knowing when to drop camps to capitalize on a kill opportunity is a must. Additionally understanding when it's appropriate to horizontal or verticle jungle is infinitely valuable.
Support) My secondary role. The second jungler. Understanding where to be and roam timers will separate the good from the great. Early roaming to herald can oftentimes be massively rewarding. Understand which ADC's allow for more roaming.
If you've made it this far, you've arrived at the hug checkpoint. Bring it in <3 But seriously, thanks for caring enough to read what I have to share.
Now here are some of my thoughts on each role:
ADC) My comfort role. This role is like a grenade. This role can create a massive explosion, but let's make sure it doesn't pop while in our hands. Farm well, position well & understand you're one of the best neutral & tower takers. Stay alive. ADC's can greatly accelerate a game
Mid lane took me a little over a week & top lane just the same. I completed all roles to Master+ with 5 days to spare.
I really wish I wasn't a master procrastinator who goes into high function only when the stress is present, but hey, I'm working on it.
I steadily worked through Jungle while struggling with top lane over and over again. The season was rapidly coming to an end with 20 days left and two roles to complete, mid and top. The pressure was on & I did what I do best with pressure, I run in strides. I knew I was capable.
S12 wrapped up with me taking a step back from League and deciding that I wanted to stream and share my understanding of the game with whoever was interested.
The streaming began and in came The Flipside.
I'm so grateful for all of you.
Boom hit Masters on ADC. Support was quick to follow. And then it hit me! Let's do EVERY ROLE TO MASTERS!!! Oh what a terrible idea that was 😂 My primary and secondary role were fun. The rest were BRUTAL. Most of which consisted of me feeding on stream.
S13 arrived and I started streaming, unsure of what direction I wanted to go with it. I played some ADC and duo'd with a variety of people. I hosted some community events and shout-casted. I played a LOOOOT of ARAMS all while continuing to add new things to my ranked experience.
I was exhausted. Tired of the daily fight and complete focus required to beat those who were better than me. Swing, miss. Swing again, miss again. I couldn't recover and I didn't know if I wanted to do it all over again. I was crushed.
Like an avalanche racing down a mountain, down I went. Tilted into oblivion. It was at my fingertips and I couldn't grab it. Almost. Always almost. Never enough.
I was at 822LP (You know the spiel) and the cutoff for Challenger was 839. A win (+17) would put me there. I got into what I thought would be the final game for me to cross over. Heartbreak. It wasn't even remotely close. We got obliterated. And then I got obliterated afterward.
My favorite win from S12 was beating Han-Sama & TL Yeon and my favorite loss was against Doublelift & Vulcan (I got absolutely blasted). But there I was, atop the mountain and one single win away from Challenger.
The result of the game didn't matter! I was playing for the joy of the game & had a healthier, more balanced relationship with it. My quantity of games dropped significantly. I went from playing 8+ games a day to 2-4 games a day. Quality over quantity.
