Two supermassive black holes (Phoenix A and TON 618) compared to our solar system (white oval at the center).

This reminds me how weird the universe is and how vulnerable our existence is here on Earth.

We're lucky to be here. Let's try not to mess it up ❤

@smtravis @browardschools If a student refuses to turn on the camera or pretends that his or her camera is not working, but he/she is still in the meeting, will we mark the student absent? Are there consequences?

[Adela Popescu @ADELAPOPESCU]

Well, maybe, but I am pretty sure we were told that there are no more laptops available.

[Scott Travis @smtravis]

@atempleh @jlturchin @browardschools That is correct. If you don’t have a camera on your home computer, you can get a school-issued laptop, so it shouldn’t be an equity issue.

[Adela Popescu @ADELAPOPESCU]

@Monipe2012 @smtravis @browardschools How do you believe a teacher could have control on 35 little boxes on the bottom of the screen if he/she teaches and most of the time has to write down? If your son was cheating, YOU are the one who should talk to him.

[Adela Popescu @ADELAPOPESCU]

@smtravis @AndrewGrub1 @JohncitoMoreno @browardschools I know. 😊. Still, cameras on or off, some will sleep, some will cheat, always the serious kids will study and do their best.

[Adela Popescu @ADELAPOPESCU]

@smtravis @JohncitoMoreno @browardschools Lol, this is a funny question. It depends of students’ age and subject. I can’t teach Math looking at a screen to be sure the kids are not back to sleep. I actually write down, solve problems by hand. Anyway, I find it very distracting for me and the students.

[Adela Popescu @ADELAPOPESCU]

@smtravis @AndrewGrub1 @JohncitoMoreno @browardschools Who cares if they are in bed in pjs if they do their work?

[Adela Popescu @ADELAPOPESCU]

@smtravis @browardschools Bad idea, in my opinion. I teach using ActiveInspire and I can’t see the students while writing on the screen: they can pay attention or they can make faces or gestures to each other. Also, they will be preoccupied more with their looks than paying attention to the lesson. Teens.

[Adela Popescu @ADELAPOPESCU]

@smtravis @browardschools The list was published. Why asking people?

[Adela Popescu @ADELAPOPESCU]

@MsNamasTECH @smtravis @danielgohl @afusco_BTU The person writing the email is a math teacher, trying to teach on a whiteboard.

[Adela Popescu @ADELAPOPESCU]

@rrrrgret @smtravis @danielgohl @afusco_BTU Why do you need that camera at home? 😮😮

[Adela Popescu @ADELAPOPESCU]

@KenSpooner @ElvisDuranShow @elvisduran How do people leave the house without taking a shower? Do they change their underwear without washing, like clean underwear 8-10 hours after the last shower? Ewww, gross! 🤮

[Adela Popescu @ADELAPOPESCU]

@browardschools @RobertwRuncie @MindBodyMed @drjamesgordon Unfortunately, in high schools, we have classes til 3.10. We can’t leave the students “alone”. :(
