I’m a 36 year old woman who was recently diagnosed primarily hyperactive ADHD. As a kid I was talkative, social, imaginative, and in honor classes yet never felt like I fit. As an adult I struggle with depression, self-hatred, anxiety, & isolation. #ADHD is not just about work.
Sorry I haven’t responded, my new dentist told me I was an interesting person before I even spoke so I’ve been thinking about what that meant this whole time
@JoeBiden Let’s talk about the scam and exorbitant exploitation of education that is private student loans. No company should be allowed to make a 200% profit on anyone. People > profit.
@MikeKellyPA Please recognize the harm and ignorance of your statement. Tax dollars pay your salary and I’d much rather it cover the cost of education THAT SHOULD BE FREE.
Grow some humanity and represent the actual humans you serve. Not the corporations and wealthy elite.
@Discover Hi! When I did that I was told they could either extend my loan, which would have me pay back even more, or I could apply for a forbearance, which does not change the situation or fact that I have already paid $10k over the original loan amount with 10 years to go. @CFPB
We need to talk about private #studentloans
When I was 20, I took one out in the amount of $17,500. As of today, I have paid $27,400. I still have TEN years of payments left.
How is this legal? @Discover does not need a 200% profit. This is exploitation.
What is your story?
Reading is the perfect Special Interest for me. It involves no physical effort, no leaving the house, no noise and no sensory overwhelm; just me reading well-chosen words that stimulate my mind and help me to think and learn. I can do it with little-no executive functioning. ❤️

Self-hatred is wild. With each year that passes, it grows worse. It built up to a point I physically feel it. It’s in my bones. It weighs me down and keeps me there. It festers. It manifests in self-destructive ways. This was a result of undiagnosed #ADHD. This can change.
@madfoot Being kind to ourselves is sooo important and also so hard. Years of feeling inadequate/wrong left me with the meanest inner voice to myself. Definitely a big part of the journey is learning to change that. Also YOU sound amazing! 🤗
Hyperactive #ADHD is not primarily in men. It is diagnosed primarily in men. The difference between those two can be life-threatening. We need to challenge the way folks talk about it.
It wasn’t until after college that I learned I am a far better public speaker when I wing it. The key is to learn as much as I can about the topic, feel comfortable in what I know, and being open/excited to learn more in the process. My #ADHD loves spontaneity.
@mysticcshadow Absolutely!!! I am an #ADHD person who has no problem being vocal and am more than happy to speak up for others but I am just a small percentage of people with ADHD. We need to also uplift the experiences that are different from ourselves as well.
And one final note (haha yeah right, I have #ADHD):
If you see a list of reasons why you may NOT have #ADHD ignore it. That is one impression and likely won’t fit you. These lists are harmful and can lead someone to not advocate for themselves and not be diagnosed.
As the ‘outside the box‘ thinkers, us #ADHDers need to keep sharing our experiences and being vocal. There is no one way #ADHD presents and there is no one way to treat it. Much like the way our brains work, the diagnosis cannot be limited to a box or a list.
