"Conclusions: Local and central reading of IUS demonstrated at least moderate inter- and intra-rater reliability for several parameters. This study supports refining existing activity indices and incorporating IUS central reading into clinical trials."

🔑 takeaways and updates since the study was conducted:

Interpretation of images is challenging in #IUS but also in other imaging modalities like #MRI.

📝"Inter-rater reliability estimates reported in the current study are similar to or greater than those observed when MRE features were evaluated in small bowel CD."

📝"Variability in inter-reliability estimates is most likely due to heterogeneous scoring conventions, parameter definitions, and training programs [...] We found that reliability was highest when BWS and i-fat were scored as absent/present. Conversely, assessing CDS using the 4-category modified Limberg Score yielded higher reliability estimates compared to a binary system."

✅@BowelUltrasound is currently working on standardizing training programs, and in a recent study by @GormRoager, parameter definitions were thoroughly discussed for optimizing scoring conventions => https://t.co/0Ly8TvROgX
@BowelUltrasound is also working on a new prospectively defined score and testing it for reliability and responsibility.
