Yesterday we launched Automations in Kiro 🚀
Recurring agentic tasks, connected to your codebase
Some fun ideas:
• Obsidian vault gardener - links orphan notes, surfaces forgotten ideas
• Arxiv paper monitor - detect new papers matching your research interests
• Docs drift fixer - catches and updates stale docs
• Morning briefer - overnight PRs, issues, and CI failures in one digest
• Changelog generator - summarize recent changes
• Flaky test fixer - analyze recent CI runs
Check out @QuinnyPig's conversation with me on "The Rise of Autonomous Ops: Inside AWS’s DevOps Agent" on @LastWeekinAWS!
We talk #AWS history, #DevOps at @awscloud, and how we've encoded that into AWS DevOps Agent. And Corey cracks some great jokes.

The last couple weeks were busy for the Kiro team, with 35 updates shipped in the changelog. The two big ones I'm most excited about:
1) Kiro Web preview
- Autonomous agent mode
- Cloud sandboxes
- Direct integration with GitHub
2) New ways to practice spec-driven development
- New Quick Plan mode
- New spec analysis that catches logical inconsistencies, ambiguities, and conflicting constraints

My partner, who was an academic, then a talented software engineer, then a head gardener for a palace, then an electrical engineer and is now a mechanical engineer at a powerplant describes software engineering as THE most sexist environment she has ever experienced ->
My re:Invent talk on Application Architecture as Code is now available in English (with a slight German accent that gives it that hint of engineering precision)

🚀🚀🚀 Really excited about this launch! Easily import application resources into #AWS#CloudFormation. Scan resources in your account, find related application resources, generate a template (or CDK app!) and import the resources into an existing or new stack.
To be clear, so there is no confusion. #AppComposer is now available as an IDE plugin for VSCode. AppComposer ALSO integrates directly with #StepFunctions workflow studio. Therefore, AppComposer AND workflow studio are available in VSCode!! This is so amazing!
I’m excited about so many features we just launched in AWS Application Composer. But I’m *really* excited that in the AWS Toolkit for VS Code you can now deploy / sync the app you designed straight to the cloud. See a gif of this in the blog post!

AWS Application Composer in VSCode sounds great to me. One of the reasons I wasn't really using it, was that I had to sign into an AWS account for it. I assume (but didn't check) that it will now integrate with Builder ID
🚀Our final re:Invent 2023 launch!!! As announced in Werner's keynote, you can now use Application Composer in VSCode. By deduction, given this weeks earlier announcement, you can now use Workflow Studio for AWS Step Functions in Application Composer in VSCode. Now go build! 😆
🚀 AWS Step Functions Workflow Studio meets Application Composer! In this uniting of the visual builders, you can now build workflows within the context of your Infrastructure as Code SAM and CloudFormation templates.
