Miami-Dade has hit another major milestone in our fight against COVID-19.
Over 1,000,000 people have now received at least one dose of the vaccine, including 77% of our seniors 65+. Together, we are leading the state in vaccinations and heading toward a strong economic recovery.
We must fight to get our cruise liners and their employees back to work and safely sailing again. To be clear, no federal law authorizes the @CDCgov to indefinitely shutdown an entire industry.
#BreakingNews El Gobernador Ron DeSantis anuncia demanda contra el gobierno federal y exige que se reabra inmediatamente la industria de cruceros en Miami. Más detalles en @Telemundo51
16+ and want a vaccine?
On Monday, FEMA walk-up site at MDC North will offer 3K Pfizer first shots to 16+ w/ parent/guardian and those 18+.
On Tuesday, the site moves to 3K J/J single dose shots for 18+ only.
Minors can still get a dose at state/county sites but by appt.
Floridians who rely on our cruise industry to provide for themselves and their families cannot wait until November 1 to get back to work. The federal government should lift the lockdown and allow cruises to sail immediately.
I commend the Governor for following the lead of communities like Miami-Dade that moved forward to aggressively expand vaccination eligibility. On Monday, all people 40+ can get a vaccine at any vaccination site and all adults will be eligible on April 5.
My full statement:
I’m pleased to announce that beginning this Monday, March 29, all Floridians age 40 and older will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Beginning the following Monday, April 5, all Floridians age 18 and older will be eligible.
