Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology publishing articles on the source, fate and effects of chemical contaminants in the environment.
The October issue of AECT features an article showing that biofilm on plastic debris collected from a polluted river contained several strains of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria. Check out the article here: https://t.co/yQAlTNvlpB. View full issue here: https://t.co/1dBmnqXu61

The August issue of AECT features an article on levels of Hg and other trace elements in tissues of wolverines from northern Canada. Mercury levels were generally highest in the kidney. However, Hg, Cd, Pb and Se concentrations are not a risk to these animals.

The July issue feature article shows chronic exposure of early life stages of fathead minnows to groundwater contaminated from a pesticide plant increased mortalities & affected development of the fish. Parallel transcriptomics analyses supported observations of in vivo toxicity.

The April issue features an article about the effects of sublethal concentrations of lead on house sparrows, showing that the birds' flight ability and activity in novel environments were affected, with possible consequences for the survival of wild birds in lead-polluted areas.

The Feb. 2024 issue features an article describing a study of effects of pesticide exposure on the consumption of prey by giant water bugs
& dragonfly larvae. It showed that exposure to fipronil and 2,4-D can alter the predator-prey interactions within aquatic invertebrates".

In an article in the Jan 2024 issue, authors showed induction of p-glycoprotein in rainbow trout did not alter the toxicokinetics of the anti-parasitic compound, ivermectin, which is not consistent with the effect of induction of this protein on xenobiotic kinetics in mammals".
Our Nov. issue includes an article on levels of toxic & essential metals in the Indian food basket. This study showed that concentrations of Cd,Pb,Ni in some vegetables were greater than permissible limits of the FAO/WHO & posed a risk to the health of consumers in India. Link 👇
The Oct. Special Issue of AECT features a series of articles describing the problems and some solutions related to legacy and emerging contaminants in air, water, sediments, soil and fishes in Viet Nam, as impacts of environmental contamination accompany a growing economy. Link⬇️
