Barney Update 🐾
Recently, Barney visited one of the UK’s most respected canine orthopaedic specialists. Following extensive discussions with multiple experts, the unanimous view is that surgery cannot guarantee an improvement in Barney’s quality of life.
Due to the condition of his remaining bones, reconstructive surgery carries significant risks, including further complications, additional operations, and a very long recovery. Barney also has coronoid disease in both elbows, meaning any recovery would place extra strain on joints that are already compromised.
One specialist encouraged us to view Barney not as a dog waiting to be fixed, but as a disabled dog who has always lived with these deformities. Our responsibility is to give him the happiest, most comfortable, and dignified life possible.
After careful consideration, our volunteer team has made the difficult decision not to pursue surgery. While we know some supporters may be disappointed, we believe this is the kindest choice for Barney.
For anyone who donated specifically towards surgery, we are offering refunds upon request. Please contact us if you would like your donation returned so we can discuss.
We also want to be transparent that, from the £10,000 raised for Barney, thousands of pounds have already been spent on his care, diagnostics and specialist consultations, with one assessment alone costing close to £2,000. Any remaining funds donated for Barney will be used solely for his ongoing care, including medication, pain management, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, veterinary reviews and lifelong support.
Most importantly, Barney can now begin his journey towards finding a forever home. Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we will continue helping with his care costs so his future family can focus on giving him the love he deserves.
Thank you for standing by Barney. His path may look different to what we first imagined, but we remain committed to giving him a life filled with comfort, dignity, happiness and love. ❤️
We really need to be honest right now… things are not where they need to be 💔
Barney is struggling every single day. Standing is hard. Walking is harder. And watching him live like this when we know there is an option to help him is heartbreaking for his foster mum 🥹
We are now speaking with specialists and the reality is this:
He needs two hip replacements at around £10,000 per hip.
Our target is now sadly higher at £20,000.
We currently have under £4,000 raised.
All grants and donations have completely stalled.
Because of this, we’re now being forced to have conversations about more cost-effective options… ones that won’t give Barney the same level of pain relief or quality of life. That’s not what we want for him. He deserves better than “just managing” and honestly we don’t know if they are an option financially and PTS discussions have started to creep in 😢
At the same time, our charity funds are now so low that we’ve had to cancel dogs coming over this month. This isn’t just about Barney anymore, it’s impacting the other dogs who need us too.
We are at a really critical point.
If you’ve ever thought about donating, sharing, or helping — now is the time.
Every single donation, no matter how small, genuinely matters right now. And if you can’t donate, sharing Barney’s story could make all the difference.
We don’t want to give up on him. 🤍
But we can’t do this without you.

Barney needed to be retested for brucellosis here in the UK with his local vets, which has slightly delayed the start of his medical planning. Every practice has its own protocols when it comes to brucellosis, but we had no concerns, he’s already tested negative three times while in our care, so ofc he got another negative result ❣️
The good news is we’re now in active discussions with specialists about the best next steps for Barney, focusing on long-term pain relief and giving him the quality of life he truly deserves. One of the specialists is currently away, so we’re hoping to have a clearer update by the end of the month from multiple clinics 🐶🏨
In the meantime, please keep sharing Barney’s story and supporting his fundraiser 🙏
With two hips needing treatment, the costs are significant, replacements start from around £7,500 per hip, though we are also exploring other possible options.
So far, we’ve raised £3,830 for Barney, which we are incredibly grateful for 🤍 But as we’ve shared recently, it’s been a really tough start to the year for the charity 🥹 donations are down and grant applications haven’t been successful.
We really need to come together for the dogs still relying on us 🤩 Every share, every donation, and every bit of support makes a difference.
Thank you for being part of Barney’s journey 🐾 link in bio to donate 🙏 #dogrescue #hipreplacement #rescuedog #goldenretriever
We need to be honest… we are struggling 🐾💔
This is not something we ever want to say publicly, but the reality is our charity is under real financial pressure right now.
We are doing everything we can to keep going, but it’s starting to feel impossible.
We still have dogs who rely on us every day for safety, food, and medical care 🤍
Right now, we urgently need help with:
🐶 Three dogs who must remain in Turkey
They are safe, but not suitable for rehoming. We are looking for sponsors at £100 per month, per dog, to ensure they continue to receive the care they need.
🐶 Thea
Her pain is increasing, and while we cannot afford a full hip replacement, she urgently needs a hip removal surgery to give her comfort and quality of life.
We need to raise £500.
🐶 Barney 💔
We are trying to fundraise for his double hip replacement, but progress has been slow. We are currently only 38% of the way there, and he is still waiting far too long.
We are trying our absolute best. But right now, we are struggling to keep up.
If every single person reading this gave just £1, it would genuinely help keep us afloat.
If you can donate, sponsor one of our dogs, or even just share this post, you are making a real difference. Link in bio/ on website to donate ❣️
Please help us continue helping them 🤍 #dogrescue #fundraising #ukcharity
Mia is still waiting… could you be her happy ending? 🐾
Mia’s story began in a place no dog should ever have to be, a government holding and feeding pen where she was struggling, injured, and simply not coping. When she was rescued last year, she had a suspected leg injury and needed six weeks of strict rest. But Mia showed us her quiet strength… and slowly, she began to bounce back 💛
Now, Mia is ready. Ready for love, for comfort, and for a life she’s never truly known.
She may not shout for attention... she’s older, smaller, and black, which sadly means she’s often overlooked. But those who take the time to see her will find the gentlest soul. We truly haven’t seen a bad bone in her.
✨ Great with all people
✨ Lovely with other dogs
✨ Calm, kind, and easy to love
Mia isn’t asking for much… just a peaceful home where she can finally relax, feel safe, and be adored the way she deserves. A cosy bed, a quiet routine, and a family to call her own, that’s her dream.
📍 Ready to travel in May
📄 Full RBU
🐾 Full post-adoption support, including access to a behaviourist
🚐 Transport costs from £1100 depending on UK location (home drop-off)
If you can offer Mia the soft landing she’s been waiting for, please get in touch 💌
And if you can’t adopt right now, sharing her story could change her life.
Let’s not let Mia be overlooked any longer 🖤 #rescuedog #adopt
Waffle has been settling into her new home over the past couple of months, and we think it’s safe to say… she’s well and truly made herself at home 🐾✨
Her new sister Mable welcomed her with open paws, and the two of them have been pretty much inseparable ever since 🤩 just look at them together 😍
According to Waffle’s dad, she’s actually easier than Mable…😂
We were absolutely thrilled when we read their application for Waffle, but even then we couldn’t have imagined a more perfect home and family for her. This is exactly what we hope for every time.
Dreams really do come true ❣️

We are beyond proud of Jess and Iggy for becoming a Hero Dog Finalist at @crufts 2026 🐶🌟
We rescued Iggy from a truly dire situation many years ago, he was unable to walk. Thanks to this incredible community, who fundraised alongside us, we were able to give him life-changing surgery once he arrived into his amazing UK medical foster home ❣️we are so happy he found is forever after with Jess, Seb and Alfie 🐶
And just look at him now. Iggy has gone on to do the most incredible things with Jess, touching so many lives along the way. He is living proof that rescue is so worth it.
His impact on his community is something really special, and we would absolutely love your support to help him win Overall Hero Dog 🐾✨
He’ll be live at Crufts on 8th March, and we’ll share the voting links in our stories now.
Let’s go Iggy ❣️❣️❣️

Sadly, on Friday, Dora crossed the rainbow bridge 🌈
She was surrounded by love, with Julie and Ann by her side, telling her how loved she was and giving her lots of cuddles.
This week Dora took a downward turn and began to lose a lot of blood. We booked her into the vets on Friday, where they found a large tumour had returned and that it was inoperable and untreatable. The welfare and safety of our dogs will always come first, so the very tough but correct and ethical decision was made for her.
We are absolutely heartbroken that this happened just as she arrived at our UK kennels 😥 Dora never found a forever home, but she was protected and deeply loved by all of us on the team. Friday was a very tough day, and our sweet girl will always be remembered.
Dora, we are so sorry you never made it to your forever home, but we are so grateful for the years we got to keep you safe under our wings ❣️
If you would like to donate towards Dora’s care in her memory, we would be ever so grateful, the links are in our bio.
Fly high, sweet Dora 🤍
Those videos were all taken the week before when Julie and Ann went to visit Dora before she took her downward turn and we think they show what a lovely, affectionate and happy girl she was ❣️
#restinpeace🕊️
This is Dora ❣️ and she’s got quite the story.
This week Dora arrived in the UK from Turkey 🇹🇷➡️🇬🇧 and is currently settling into kennels in Gloucestershire while we search for her forever. While we’re so grateful she’s made this huge first step, our hearts couldn’t help but ache as other dogs headed off to their new homes… and Dora arrived without hers 😥
Dora was rescued a couple of years ago and has been in our care ever since. Last year she was diagnosed with TVT, a sexually transmitted cancer in dogs. After speaking with vets in the UK, euthanasia was sadly suggested. But the vets in Turkey didn’t agree. We shared Dora’s case with a UK specialist oncology team, who felt she had a good prognosis... so chemo began 💪
Dora was incredible throughout treatment and we’re so proud to say she has now been in remission for almost a year 🎉✨
Now, Dora is ready for the next chapter and we’re looking for either a foster or adoptive home for this brave girl.
🐾 No children under teens
🐾 Not cat tested
🐾 Very good with other dogs
As a charity, it cost £1,100 to bring Dora safely to the UK. If adopted, we would be incredibly grateful for this to be contributed back, so it can go directly towards helping the next dog in need ❤️
Today marks one whole year since Beamish arrived in his forever home 🐾 A UK surrender who came under our wings to find his happily ever after, and it’s clear he’s found it!
Beamish is absolutely adored and he is the apple of his mum’s eye 🍎 Constantly carrying sticks, playing with balls and posing with his food bowl while waiting for his very important dinner time 😂
We love seeing these updates and are so grateful for all the lovely glimpses of his happy forever after 💛

The happiest news to share… Alfie has been ADOPTED! 🎉
After 12 whole months in our care, sweet Alfie has officially settled into his forever home and our hearts couldn’t be fuller 🥹🐾 we saw "Santa's little helper" back in December 2024 and brought him into safety to stop a dark fate after he did his time in the UK pound after being found as a stray 🥺 he has been on one hell of journey since and touched all our hearts 😍
Alfie’s new mum and dad have lots of sighthound experience, absolutely adore him, and have been kind enough to share some of their favourite photos with us to celebrate this next chapter 📸
He’s been settling in beautifully, and we are loving every update! Seeing him so happy, relaxed and cherished is exactly what we hoped for ❣️
We also want to say the biggest thank you to Alfie’s incredible foster mum @synchrodog.training ❣️
She cared for and loved Alfie as if he were her own, and we know just how close their bond was. This moment is just as meaningful for her too, and we are endlessly grateful for everything she gave him 😍
Happy ever after looks very good on you, Alfie ✨🐕💫
#adopted #rescuedog #happiness
We are absolutely delighted to share that Golden mum has been settling beautifully into her perfect furever home ❣️ She’s finally got a name all of her own… the beautiful Frankie 🥺
It’s so clear how much mum and dad adore her, she’s content, happy, and finally the centre of someone’s world. Exactly everything we hoped for 🤍
This also marks the third adoption from Lady Diana’s (now Ana’s) foster profile and applications, and it makes us so happy when people are open to discussing other dogs who may be the right fit… just look at these gorgeous, happy results 😍🐾
#adoptedandadored #rescuedog
As the New Year began, so did Golden Dad’s chance at his very own happy furever as he was picked up a few days into the year❣️
Now known as Albie, this sweet boy has truly landed on all four paws and we think the joy speaks for itself in these gorgeous photos 😍
We are so thrilled for him and absolutely love receiving these happy updates. After everything and all of us pulling together and getting the golden family together, we made this happen and it’s an honour to see Dad finally getting his time to shine 🐶💛
#rescuedog #afa #goldenfamily #adopt
Lady Diana, now known as the beautiful Ana, has well and truly stolen hearts 🥹💖
She was such a popular girl and we are so thrilled to share these gorgeous photos of her settling into her new life. Everything about them just screams love, comfort and happiness and we are absolutely here for it 😍
We couldn’t be more thankful to her amazing foster mum @oliviahamerwebb @ladydianathegolden who helped Ana shine after months of no applications... As following her posts we were literally snowed under for this beautiful girlie! Thanks to fostering, loving and showcasing, the perfect home has been found ❣️
And the happy endings didn’t stop there… Golden dad has since found his forever happiness too, and another very special lady has a meet booked for this weekend following all of Ana’s applications 🤩
Fostering truly saves lives and how lucky is Ana to be living this dream now? 🤍✨#fosteringsaveslives #foster #rescuedog #adoptdontshop❤️
2025 Rescue Recap 🐾
2025 has been the hardest year we’ve ever faced.
This year, we rescued 33 dogs, frightened, abandoned, elderly and injured. Our volunteers stepped into places they shouldn’t have had to. We showed up, even when it felt impossible.
We rehomed 23 dogs.
Twenty-three lives that now know warmth, safety and love. That part never gets old 🤍
But rescue isn’t just the wins.
We lost 4 dogs in rescue 😭
Becks, the black retriever, and two tiny pups.
They were loved. We fought for them.
We also said goodbye to Ralphie, Shadow and Harper, who passed while safe in their homes. They left this world knowing kindness and that will always matter ❣️
This year tested us.
Donations dropped.
Grants were rejected.
Foster and adoption applications slowed more than ever before.
There were months we didn’t know how we would keep going… and the truth is, sometimes we couldn’t keep saying yes.
Every single one of us is a volunteer. Every dog saved in 2025 is proof that these lives were worth fighting for.
Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, fostered, adopted or simply checked in, you kept us afloat 🤍
We carry the losses.
We celebrate the wins quietly.
And we keep going... For them. 🐾🤍
