Action for Global Health

We are a UK-based influential membership network convening more than 50 organisations working in global health.

[Action for Global Health @AFGHnetwork]

With more than 1/4 of the world’s population unable to access health care, #HealthForAll cannot wait!

This #UHCDay, we call on governments to act on their promises and make #UHC a reality - right here, right now!

[Action for Global Health @AFGHnetwork]

Universal Health Coverage must include people with disabilities.

At #WHS2026, Tom Shakespeare of @TheLancet's Commission on Disability and Health highlighted why disability inclusion is essential to achieving health equity.

A vital reminder as we look ahead to #UHCDay.

🌍 Health is an investment, not a burden.

Following #WHS2026, @chargladstone MBE writes in @Independent, drawing on her experience in Malawi and the NHS to make the case for rethinking health spending. 👇

[ONE @ONECampaign]

The conversation about Africa's health security needs to shift from what the continent lacks to what it can achieve with the right investments.

At the #WorldHealthSummit in Berlin, ONE Africa Executive Director Serah Makka highlighted why strengthening Africa's existing capabilities must be a priority. 🌍

[Action for Global Health @AFGHnetwork]

“Global health issues do impact patient care even at the basic ward level.”

From the #NHS to #Malawi, @MalawianUKNurse’s President Charity Gladstone MBE brings a unique perspective to global health.

[Uniting to Combat Neglected Tropical Diseases @CombatNTDs]

Rural women produce 50% of the world’s food, yet face systemic barriers & a disproportionate burden of neglected tropical diseases (#NTDs) like schistosomiasis.

It's great to see @Ed_Miliband addressing the role of debt repayments in limiting global equality efforts!

But more can be done, particularly looking at the role of illicit financial flows and the UK's role as a hotbed for illicit finance.

@KMAkandoh @PeterASands @HelenClarkNZ @WorldHealthSmt 💰 As development aid budgets shrink, what role should philanthropy play in financing global health?

At #WHS2026, @wellcometrust’s @jarottingen highlighted its growing importance, while the @GlobalFund’s @PeterASands pointed to the potential for greater focus and efficiency.

[Action for Global Health @AFGHnetwork]

🌍 At #WHS2026, today’s discussions turn to governing global health in a multipolar world.

As countries transition beyond eligibility for international support, what kind of global health architecture will ensure progress towards #HealthForAll is sustained?

[Action for Global Health @AFGHnetwork]

🇬🇭 Ghana’s Health Minister, @KMAkandoh, makes the case for country ownership: national priorities must lead, with global partners aligning behind them.

He also calls for greater local production of medicines to avoid repeating the inequities of COVID-19.

We’re at #WHS2026! 🌍

Great to be here alongside Charity Gladstone MBE, President of the Malawian-UK Nurses Association (MUNA).

We’re supporting diaspora-led health organisations to have a voice in the international forums shaping global health policy.

🗨️ “We are not lacking commitments; we are lacking implementation – and accountability for delivering on those commitments,” said Alison Cox, NCD Alliance Policy and Advocacy Director, at the launch of the 2026 #UHCDay campaign, where she discussed NCDA’s priorities for next year’s High-Level Meeting on UHC.

🗨️“The opportunity of the HLM on UHC in 2027 is not to generate another set of promises, but to bring together the commitments already made and drive their implementation.”

While advocating for better #HealthForAll in the lead-up to the High-Level Meeting on #UHC, Alison highlighted that the NCD Alliance will be focusing on
✅prevention
✅integrated, quality primary health care
✅and financing

[NCD Alliance @ncdalliance]

Today is #WorldSightDay!

👁️Eye health belongs to the broader #NCD and #UHC agendas. It’s time to #ActOnNCDs, including eye conditions, and leave no one behind.

More than 2.2 billion people worldwide live with blindness or vision impairment. including 1.1 billion people whose vision loss is preventable or yet to be treated.

Without urgent action, this could rise to 1.8 billion by 2050.

We can no longer treat eye health in isolation.

Integrating eye health into stronger, more inclusive health systems is essential to achieving health for all.

The upcoming first-ever Global Summit for Eye Health, taking place on 2 November, offers a landmark opportunity for world leaders and partners to turn commitments into action and accelerate progress for people living with avoidable sight loss.

@UnitedAMH @BeccyCooper4Lab 👏👏👏

[United Against Malnutrition & Hunger (UAMH) @UnitedAMH]

As we head towards the UK’s #G20 presidency, nutrition must be front & centre of the health agenda.

Thank you @BeccyCooper4Lab for highlighting both the economic & moral case for investing in nutrition: helping children survive, thrive & reach their full potential.
