The Club are happy to confirm that Lewis Hayes will not require further surgery on his ACL, after an exploratory arthroscope this morning confirmed an ACL sprain.
Hayes is expected to be available to commence training at the start of pre-season 👇

Statement is his opinion but some back up rationale would be handy. Maybe he doesn’t know what skills and abilities are required. One thing I can say is that Hirds communication and general people skills are top shelf.
We're disappointed to confirm that Lewis Hayes re-injured his ACL during his VFL return over the weekend.
Details below. With you every step of the way, Hayesy ❤️

Shattering blow at Essendon.
Young key defender Lewis Hayes has suffered another ruptured ACL.
Was only playing his first VFL match back on the weekend, returning from the same injury he sustained on AFL debut last year

If only football journalists were more authentic and less Daily Mail I’d tune in. It’s become a drama show. The only ones I listen to are Eddie, Toomey, Bartel and Hird.
My order who I think should coach Essendon :
1. John Longmire (proven success)
2. James Kelly - comes from a successful club. Knows what it would be like to be successful and from a winning culture
3. James Hird- more heart decision. He will get the group back in harmony.
