At last Thursday’s event in Glen Allen, Rep. Rob Wittman urged Congress to pass the SPEED Act, PERMIT Act, and Take Care of America’s Veterans Act — key priorities for AFP–Virginia and Concerned Veterans for America. Watch his remarks. 🎥 #AFPVA#CVA
🏈 Game day grassroots in Blacksburg!
Before Virginia Tech vs. Old Dominion, I talked with tailgaters about affordability, rising energy costs, and bottom-up solutions that can make life easier for Virginia families.
Meeting people where they are 🇺🇸

From Grassroots Engagement Director Flint Engleman:
“Thank you to everyone who joined AFP Foundation’s annual 9/11 Commemoration in Harrisonburg—a moving Skyline Region tradition. Special thanks to Rep. Ben Cline, Army veteran Jim Wood, and CJ Hatcher. United we stand. 🇺🇸
🏈 I’ll be covering the Virginia Tech vs. Old Dominion tailgate and talking with fans about affordability, rising energy costs, and the need to reform the Virginia Clean Economy Act.
Take action: https://t.co/ss0tS46sfz
AFP activists are making their voices heard!
Across Virginia, activists are writing postcards to Governor Spanberger encouraging her to reform the VCEA and withdraw Virginia from RGGI to help bring down energy costs.
William from Williamsburg put it simply:
“Affordability includes affordable energy.”
Virginians deserve an energy policy that puts reliable, affordable energy first.
Energy abundance is key when dealing with the affordability issue. Urge this administration and the legislature to take action.

It's simple. There is no such thing as a wealthy low-energy country.
Building energy infrastructure is crucial for the industries and businesses that create jobs and make life more affordable.
From communities across Virginia to conversations across the country, I keep hearing the same concern: families are working harder, but everyday life is becoming less affordable.
The encouraging news is that we are not powerless. When people speak up, get involved, and stand together, we can remove barriers, expand opportunity, and build an economy that works for everyone.
We do not need more government control or top-down ideas like socialism. We need bottom-up solutions that trust individuals, strengthen families, support local communities, and allow people to keep more of what they earn.
This is bigger than one video or one conversation. It is a growing movement of Americans choosing freedom, opportunity, and hope over dependency and control.
Add your voice. Get involved. Together, we can make life more affordable and protect the American Dream for the next generation. 🇺🇸

Saturday was about more than just game day—it was about grassroots action.
At our Grassroots and Game Day event, volunteers made phone calls in support of the SPEED Act and PERMIT Act, commonsense reforms that would remove unnecessary barriers and help important projects move forward. We also signed postcards urging the administration to take action to reform the Virginia Clean Economy Act and address the rising energy costs affecting families across the Commonwealth.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, made calls, signed postcards, and took action. Real change happens from the bottom up—and Virginia’s grassroots are ready to keep fighting for lower costs and greater opportunity.

Socialists "freezing" the rent isn't the end of the story. Ilana explains what happens to families and workers when the government steps into the housing market.
Spoiler: nothing good.
🚨America’s socialist movement:
“Satan’s School of Gay Communism”
And they’re applauding.
If that doesn’t scare the hell out of you, it should.
Get off the couch. Fight back. 🥊
Socialism means more government control, fewer choices, and less freedom for individuals and families. The answer to today’s challenges is not another top-down government program—it is empowering people, removing barriers, and advancing bottom-up solutions that create opportunity for everyone.

Virginia’s average residential electricity price rose 13.7% in one year—costing a household using 1,000 kWh about $241 more annually. Tell lawmakers and this administration to reform the Virginia Clean Economy Act and put affordability first. Signed the petition below in comments
Over the past several months, I’ve taken the conversation about the rising cost of living directly to the people—from communities across Virginia to North Carolina and Kentucky. I’ve heard from families, students, small-business owners, farmers market vendors, and community leaders who are feeling the pressure of higher grocery bills, energy costs, housing expenses, and other everyday necessities.
The message is clear: people are ready for bottom-up solutions, not more top-down government mandates. We need to lower energy costs, cut unnecessary red tape and regulations, encourage competition, and make it easier for hardworking people to keep more of their own money.
Now, I’m taking that conversation to football country! 🏈
My Virginia Football Tailgating Tour kicks off September 12 in Blacksburg with a Commonwealth battle between Old Dominion and Virginia Tech. We’ll be meeting fans where they are, listening to their concerns, and building grassroots support for policies that make life more affordable across the Commonwealth.
One immediate step you can take is signing this call to reform the Virginia Clean Economy Act and withdraw Virginia from RGGI:

The cost-of-living crisis affects all of us. It’s time to listen to the people, remove government barriers, and fight for solutions that allow every Virginian to prosper. 🇺🇸🏈

Virginia needs faster, more efficient permitting. The SPEED Act has been sitting in the Senate for 280 days, while the PERMIT Act has been there for 253 days. Both are awaiting action in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
@MarkWarner, Virginians are ready to build. Please support the SPEED Act and PERMIT Act and help get these permitting reforms across the finish line.
Last night, AFP hosted a Tele-Town Hall with Rep. Morgan Griffith, moderated by State Director Emily Brey. Griffith discussed why passing the Working Families Tax Cuts is one of his proudest achievements—helping families and small businesses keep more of their money.
