This was my most technically challenging professional project to date, and while we weren't doing it for the reception (we have an ideological purpose that supercedes such concerns), the love we've received from our audiences across the continent hasn't hurt at all.

Hii ni historia na heshima kwa nchi yetu kwani ni mara ya kwanza Rais wa nchi hiyo kutembelea Tanzania, hatua inayodhihirisha dhamira yetu ya kukuza ushirikiano kwa manufaa ya nchi zetu na watu wake.

Baada ya mazungumzo yetu, tumeshuhudia utiaji saini mkataba na hati nne za makubaliano zinazolenga kufungua fursa mpya katika biashara, uwekezaji, kuwezesha vijana kupitia elimu ya ujasiriamali, ujuzi na ubunifu hasa katika uchumi wa kidijitali. Aidha, tumekubaliana kuimarisha ushirikiano katika sekta ya kilimo sambamba na kuanzisha mfumo wa pamoja wa mashauriano utakaosaidia kuratibu utekelezaji wa makubaliano yetu na kushughulikia changamoto kwa ufanisi na kwa wakati.

Katika hatua nyingine, nimeikaribisha Singapore kufungua ubalozi wake nchini ili kurahisisha utekelezaji wa makubaliano haya na kuimarisha zaidi uhusiano wetu.

The President of the Republic of Singapore, H.E. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, has arrived in Tanzania for a three-day State Visit from 8–10 June 2026.

Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam, was received by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Amb. Dr. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), together with other senior government officials, including the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Hon. Albert Chalamila, and the Managing Director of the Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL), Eng. Peter Ulanga.

President Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s State Visit is the first to be undertaken by a President of Singapore since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tanzania and Singapore in 1980.

The visit marks a significant milestone in strengthening diplomatic relations, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries.

During his stay, President Tharman will be accorded an official welcome by his host, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the State House in Dar es Salaam. The two leaders are scheduled to hold official talks aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in key areas, including trade and investment, the digital economy, port development, education, skills development, tourism, and infrastructure.

The visit will also feature participation in the Tanzania–Singapore Business and Investment Forum, as well as a visit to Zanzibar for discussions with the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi.

The State Visit is expected to create new opportunities for economic cooperation and further strengthen the longstanding partnership between Tanzania and Singapore for the mutual benefit of their peoples.
