yeah so basically trump got cocky after succeeding with venezuela and had a hot hand and decided to double down and strike iran in february thinking they could take over the country in a couple of weeks despite everyone telling him it was a bad idea and would drag on
nothing really happened and then Iran learned that they can actually close the strait of hormuz and were unsure if it would even work but now its become obvious they can do it and feel empowered. the iranians have a longer history as a culture and are slow walking trump as much as possible as they know that higher oil prices are going to ruin his odds in the midterms and weaken him
not only that but now higher energy prices are putting upward pressure on inflation and bond yields which has made the job of his new fed chair warsh who came in under a premise of potential rate cute but because of the iran war were entering a rate hiking cycle
the only person in the room who was trying to juggle all of this was scott bessent but after trying to juggle everything for so long he decided he was going to try and fight the bond vigilantes to lower bond yields and declared himself as the house. but he showed up to the bond fight with hardly any ammunition and now the bond market is calling his bluff and now the bond auctions are going terrible and he looks like a fool now
so now bond yields are surging export bans on diesel are being put in place as an act of desparation midterms are a total write off and the trump admin is about to spend the next two years probably fighting impeachment hearings while things continue to detoriorate and the funny thing about all of this is he won the presidency off the idea of no more foreign wars but its his own foreign war with iran that started this whole mess and now the free market is testing them all
A reality check on the current “war with Russia is about to start” frenzy.
Russia is aggressive. It is waging a major war in Ukraine, conducting sabotage and other terror operations in Europe and yes, is testing NATO's red lines
Russia probably wants us to believe so - but there is no new intelligence assessment saying Russia is about to attack NATO.
There is quite a difference between THREAT and IMMINENT WAR. We should be able to understand both at the same time.
So where did the current panic come from?
European politicians and media created a perfect storm, (likely with the help of Russian assets) making deliberately strong statements, often for domestic political reasons.
Russian intimidation and hybrid warfare is designed to frighten, divide and pacify Europe.
Media/sm logic turns “NATO has plans for every contingency” into “NATO expects war any day now.”
The NATO Military Committee chairman said the Alliance has 4,000 pages of plans covering everything from minor incidents to Article 5.
That means NATO is doing its job. Not that war starts Tuesday.
Governments need parliamentary support for defence, Ukraine aid and larger EU/NATO budgets. Russia is a real threat, so politicians are not inventing the danger. But there is an obvious temptation to use the most dramatic formulations available. Everyone exaggerates.
Then Moscow adds more provocations and threats to the mix. And headlines strip away qualifications.
Then algorithms reward the most frightening interpretation.
Within minutes preparedness becomes prediction.
Estonia’s intelligence assessment remains the same: Russia is dangerous and its military capabilities may grow, but we don't see that Russia intends to attack Estonia or another NATO country in the coming months.
Believe me - we are watching very closely, literally. And we will not keep it to ourselves if we see something.
We prepare. All of Europe needs to stop panicking and continue doing the same, seriously and calmly. And increase serious military aid to Ukraine. This is what the fight is about today. To make us wobble. Don't.
Russia wants us uncertain, divided and sacred. Deterrence requires the opposite: strong defence, clear eyes and steady nerves. The one who stays calm wins the fight.
"If you open any Russian freshly produced ballistic missile, you will see that 60% of its component base... is imported from the USA or from Europe."

Red Cross director: "What has happened in Gaza should have been prevented, including the approximately 60,000 Palestinian deaths recorded. It is also imperative that the current situation does not continue. It represents a total moral failure." https://t.co/LwbYEHQ714
Europe could have avoided the refugee wave from Syria and the resurgence of the far-right that followed it if they had simply bombed the Assad regime in 2013. The numbers could not be clearer, opposing regime change in Syria was a catastrophe for Europe politically.
Standard AfD logic:
1) Endorse Trump
2) Watch him start an endless war in Iran that sends energy prices skyrocketing
3) Film a video about high gas prices. Blame Merz and Zelensky. Try to make people forget that you endorsed Trump
Huge hypocrites
LMFAO -- Trump is holding an event at the White House right now but there's no audio because the press pool isn't there. The Newsmax host notes that this is an example of Trump's attacks on the press "backfiring just a little bit"
You are an English speaker. You should be part of England. Ireland cannot be left to serve as an unsinkable aircraft carrier so close to England. They have legitimate concerns and must protect their compatriots.

Israel sold $400 million worth of military drones to Russia, kickstarting Moscow’s drone industry. And North Korea is Russia’s treaty ally now, participating in the war against Ukraine. https://t.co/gUFxABQWlT
I've posted this many times and I'm going to keep posting it every so often until the blessed day when it no longer applies:
In an ideal scenario the President of the United States and the worst person in the world would be two different people.
Oförmågan att inse att folk som tycker annorlunda kan ha rationella och legitima skäl för det är det säkraste tecknet på politisk omognad. Gäller oavsett vilka åsikter man har i övrigt.
A reminder to the rest of the world: we are still here, in Ukraine. russians continue to take the lives of Ukrainians literally every day, every hour. Year after year. For many here, there are no days off in the usual sense, for those who are still holding back and pushing away the bloody russian boot, trying to keep the enemy from advancing deeper into the country. These are our soldiers. Their families and loved ones always wait for them to come home alive, but war has its own rules and its own cruelty. And none of this would be happening if the invaders had stayed in their own homes and had no desire to come into someone else's.
@realDonaldTrump If Russia cancels its illegal invasion of Ukraine and withdraws to its own borders, Ukraine will immediately stop hitting Russian diesel refineries. Problem solved.
I had a great conversation with Hitler. He wants to make a deal. Hard to believe Churchill hates him. Let’s hope Churchill is willing to surrender so I can brag about how great I am at making deals.
Video shows Flock walking police through how to monitor a No Kings protest in real time. I do not have to agree with a single sign at that protest to say this plainly: Surveillance aimed at your political opponents today will be aimed at you tomorrow.
