Hi, so the woman who carried and gave birth to me was 13 years old, celebrated her 14th birthday only days before I was born. I should’ve been aborted. It’s really terrible that she was made to carry and birth a baby while she was a child herself.
Am I happy to be alive? Yes. Absolutely. Very happy to be here. Would I be mad had I been aborted? No, I wouldn’t exist, I wouldn’t feel anything. I shouldn’t exist. She was a child. The lives of girls/women are more valuable than fetuses.
an eldest daughter once said being the firstborn means you’re automatically irritated by incompetence. not because you’re harsh, but because you were never given the room to be incompetent yourself. the daughters who know… know.
Men have raped lizards, cows, dogs, men, dead bodies, kids in diapers, women in burkha, transgenders and yet people debate clothes matter. It's not her clothing, it's his mindset!
Muslims are constantly hit with “terrorist” and “bomber” stereotypes because of 9/11, yet when America bombs countries year after year, no one labels all Americans as terrorists. DOUBLE STANDARDS
Actually, Out of ten men, one makes a sexual joke at a woman, two laugh, three fake a chuckle to fit in, and four stay silent. None of them speak up. Later, nine of them still believe they're the "good guys." But from the woman's perspective, the laughter, the silence, the looking away, it all creates the same environment. So when women say"most men are the same," this is what they mean: not that every man harasses women, but that most men help protect the system that does.
Ask men to repeat what they said when they say something rude/sexist/terrible. Make them hear their words twice, maybe even a third to clarify a detail.
Mirrors teach the patriarchy better than women ever will.
Hello, Moon. It’s great to be back.
Here’s a taste of what the Artemis II astronauts photographed during their flight around the Moon. Check out more photos from the mission: https://t.co/rzM1P0QbOl
Pregnancy gets endless attention, even though many women never experience it.
Menopause happens to nearly all of us yet it’s rarely discussed openly. We need more women sharing those real stories.
my mom once showed me the house my parents bought for 70k fresh out of school. she was like “okay but you have to understand we were only making 70k per year combined!”
i was like “you’re telling me you bought a house for the same amount as your joint annual income at age 25?”
I love (genuinely, it's interesting) when a male author tries to write as a female character and gets it badly wrong.
Male author: She blushed, impressed by his courage in having asked her out. He was kind of attractive, and she felt very aroused. "I'm so flattered," she whispered shyly. "But I have a boyfriend."
Female author: She stared at the table, annoyed at the awkwardness of the situation. The stranger hung over her, like a scavenging gull. "I'm so flattered," she said limply. "But I have a boyfriend."
If you tell women to change their behaviour to avoid being raped, what you’re really saying is, “make sure he rapes the other girl instead.”
There will always be a woman who is more vulnerable less sober, less confident, with fewer friends around her, or walking alone in a darker part of town.
She deserves to be safe just as much as I do.
Safety shouldn’t depend on which woman was easier to target that night. The problem isn’t women’s behaviour. The problem is men who choose to commit rape as an act of violence.
we’re still having this conversation about couture? this is not meant to be worn in your everyday life because it’s haute couture, let fashion be a visual art
i used to work in a nursing home and there was one particular woman who was very mobile but had significant dementia. Her husband would come in sometimes and take her home for a few hours. She would come back very upset and anxious. We were pretty sure he was taking her home to have sex with her and because she was mentally a child, she got very upset. But there was no proof. That man was very likely raping his demented wife and did not care about the consequences for her mental state..
the French man who filmed his wife’s repeated rapes, that he organized and arranged, said he did it because he “wanted to subdue an unbreakable woman.”
this is the core of domestic violence. this is it. right here.
it’s not because a woman is weak or passive. it’s because his desire to destroy her is greater than anything else. it’s misogyny. men who desire to subdue unbreakable women hate women. they are misogynists.
In South Korea, some women report that servers explain menus or make recommendations to men first, even when the woman is paying. In the UK, a study in carvery restaurants found men were served larger portions of meat than women for the same order.
And in professional kitchens, women are far less likely to become head chefs or win top culinary awards, even when they’re equally skilled. Women are more likely to eat last and least in their own households.
In many cultures, social norms dictate that men and boys eat first, leaving women and girls smaller portions or lower-quality food. THERE IS MISOGYNY IN ALMOST EVERY FACET.
