By identifying the presence of cancer at an early stage, these screenings significantly increase the chances of successful treatment and, ultimately, save lives. Early detection provides individuals with more treatment options, better outcomes, and a higher quality of life.

During Hurricane #Isaias, the Agency’s E‑PLUS team supported partners before, during, and after the event—delivering four real-time trainings, onboarding a new organization, and ensuring users were ready to leverage the system effectively.
Once activated, E‑PLUS provided real-time insights into Special Needs Shelter operations, tracking 74 encounters and notifying providers and health plans as patient movements occurred. Close collaboration with DOH ensured shelter rosters were uploaded quickly and accurately, enabling timely, informed decisions throughout the response.

Floodwaters can pose serious health risks, including exposure to Vibrio vulnificus, a bacterium found in warm, brackish seawater that can cause severe, potentially life-threatening infections.
➡️ Avoid contact with floodwaters and standing water, especially if you have cuts, scratches, or open wounds.
➡️ Cover open wounds with waterproof bandages to help prevent exposure to bacteria.
➡️ Thoroughly wash wounds with soap and clean, running water after potential exposure.
⚠️ Seek immediate medical attention if a wound develops redness, swelling, drainage, or increasing pain, or if you experience fever or other signs of serious illness.
Vibrio vulnificus is not spread person-to-person. Infections may be severe for people with weakened immune systems, especially people who have chronic liver disease or take medications that lowers the body’s ability to fight germs.
Following #HurricaneIsaias, water service disruptions may affect the safety of your drinking water. If your area is under a Boil Water Notice, take precautions to protect yourself and your family.
The Florida Department of Health urges residents to follow the safety guidance provided, use boiled or bottled water as directed, and continue taking precautions until the notice is officially lifted by local authorities.
Review the graphic for important steps to make water safe for drinking, food preparation, and personal hygiene.
