20th January is a special date as it is Ricky’s birthday. On this day and throughout 2024, we aim to raise $250,000 in honor of Ricky’s commitment and contributions to creating a more gender-equitable world where every adolescent is holistically healthy, educated, and empowered.

AHC is excited to announce that we have received a grant from Tomberg Family Philanthropies. We are grateful for TFP’s support, and we look forward to using the funding to support the health and well-being of adolescent girls in Jharkhand, India in the 2023-24 academic year!

In total, 3,250 adolescent girls received critical health education through our programming.
We are excited to build on our fruitful partnership with UEF and expand across Jharkhand in the 2023-2024 academic year!

AHC is thrilled to share that our first year of working in Jharkhand was a great success! Working with our partners, Ugam Education Foundation (UEF), we launched our flagship Champion peer health education program in 27 KGBV schools in Jharkhand in the 2022-2023 academic year.

Together, we trained over 650 Champion peer health educators in the 9th standard who then led sessions in their school with their classmates on topics including mental health, menstrual hygiene, puberty, gender and anemia.

AHC is proud of our collaboration with UEF and the Fellows which enabled us to create a curriculum that is contextually relevant to the health needs of the communities and stakeholders with whom we work. We look forward to many more co-designing sessions with UEF and the Fellows!

The AHC team had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with Ugam Education Foundation (UEF) and its Fellows to co-design a three-part adolescent health curriculum for adolescent girls.

They helped us understand the unique health needs of adolescent girls in KGBVs and frame our content accordingly. The final curriculum included content on menstrual health and hygiene, puberty, anemia, mental health, and gender & relationships.

Congratulations to the Bokaro District Administration for organizing such a vibrant KGBV celebration! We are grateful for a successful launch in Bokaro and look forward to continuing working together to support many more adolescent female students in Bokaro and across Jharkhand!

On March 25, the Bokaro District Administration in Jharkhand organized a celebration to mark the culmination of the Transforming KGBV program, which took place during the 2022-2023 academic year in all 9 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) schools in Bokaro District.

The winners were recognized by the Bokaro Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Kuldeep Chaudhary; the Deputy Development Commissioner, Mrs. Keertishree G.; and other District officials.

AHC is honoured to have played a meaningful role in the Transforming KGBVs program by launching our Champion peer health education program District-wide alongside our partner, Ugam Education Foundation.

Together, we are sparking a movement for adolescent health, led by our KGBV student Champions, to drive positive health, gender, and educational outcomes for adolescent girls in rural Jharkhand!

AHC is excited to share more about our partnership with Ugam Education Foundation in Jharkhand! Through our collaboration, we have trained adolescent girls in 27 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) schools as peer health educators, or Champions.

We are also grateful for the opportunity to work in KGBV schools. KGBVs are all-female residential schools created by the Government of India to promote rural female education. KGBVs predominantly support girls who come from historically marginalized communities

Our undertakings and partnerships in the past year have enabled us to exponentially increase our outreach and sensitize adolescents on mental health, nutrition, and sexual & reproductive health. We are thrilled to share more with you all in upcoming posts!

The 2022-2023 academic year has been eventful for AHC, as we have made significant strides to reach out to more adolescents than ever before!
