Today, on Luna’s 5th anniversary, I’m launching ‘Luna’s Legacy’. If you’re also grieving the loss of a beloved pet, to celebrate their lives through a unique piece of artwork contact https://t.co/kKWQzOuU5y for details. I’ll donate a % from each commission to a rescue charity🙏🏻🐾
How did West Cork not have a rain alert this morning @MetEireann? Roads flooded, almost impassable @CorkSafetyAlert. Water pouring from saturated fields, carrying precious soil downstream. @IFAmedia@opwireland Restore hedgerows and plant trees on hills to alleviate flooding.
@COSullivanTD Asian hornets are a huge threat to our native pollinators. What about the threat to pollinators + the rest of our wildlife by the continued destruction of habitats by industrial/intensive farming? Why isn’t this treated with the same urgency by the Government? #BiodiversityCrisis
@COSullivanTD And crew from @BioDataCentre too. The @NPWSIreland rangers do amazing work every day, responding to queries from the public, enforcing the Wildlife Act + carrying out surveys. A huge remit, covering huge areas. Good to see them being recognised for their hard work and commitment.
Today, the Kilkenny and Dublin camogie players wore shorts in protest.
This isn’t about fashion. It’s not about tradition.
It’s about athletes being forced to sacrifice comfort, performance and even dignity, for an outdated rule written without them in mind.
@TeagascEnviron @Corkcoco@IFAmedia After years of festering in the field, these unused silage bales have finally been moved… pushed against the hedge bank with the plastic still on. “Guardians of the countryside” - yeah right! #pollution#FarmPlastic#Rubbish#WestCork#recycle
@officialgaa@OfficialCorkGAA Please consider your neighbours when installing floodlights and use downlights. The light pollution in our part of West Cork is appalling. Energy is being wasted. Affecting the wellbeing of nocturnal creatures + those of us who like to see the stars.
Last day for this year’s @BirdWatchIE Irish Garden Bird Survey, sponsored by @Ballymaloe. Biodiversity loss happening before our eyes - no Greenfinch, very few Goldfinch, Chaffinch + Yellowhammers. Surrounded by dairy desert, so not surprising. #ecocide#WestCork#NatureIsHome💚
Rainwater pouring off the fields. Taking top soil and slurry with it. Polluting streams and rivers, damaging roads, causing flooding downstream. This is where hedgerows should be allowed to grow, trees should be planted. Allow wet land and flood plains to do their job. #WestCork
