@WD9EWK Thanks for the upload. Always interesting to hear how it hears on the other side. I hadn't heard Christy's original call to me shortly after our QSO. I was surprised Tevel 7 wasn't as totally jammed as the FM sats tend to get during Field Day. Serenity through obscurity... π
@WD9EWK@_dg9ma@3b8du Thanks, Patrick. I don't think I've changed the step size since I first got it and changed it to 5kHz on 70cm so completely forgot that this was even an available setting. 73!
@_dg9ma@3b8du Use @WD9EWK's tutorial at https://t.co/EgLlSy3Hyx but substitute MIR-SAT 1 frequencies and use 3B8MIR-1 as PATH. May benefit from two uplink frequencies for first and second half of pass.
@3b8du Christy KB6LTY and I had a successful QSO on MIR-SAT 1 tonight, 2022-03-13 0402 UTC. Strong received signal on TH-D72 and handheld Arrow. 73, Ryan AI6DO
Thanks, Christy KB6LTY for packet QSO on Mir-Sat 1 @ 0402 UTC 2022-03-13. TH-D72A w Arrow similar setup to FS-3 but needed to split the difference in uplink freq between two memories. @3b8du
@N6UTC@ad7db Well done! I contacted you and three other stations who were full quieting but I couldn't hear any of the other stations that you four worked. Thanks and 73!
@N6UTC Thanks for the contact on 2M FM, Endaf. If you were in Long Beach, you were off the side of my horizontal Elk in the attic. I did better with that antenna on FM than with a half-wave whip at head level. 73!
@k2mts My guess is because the ARRL Field Day bonuses that are restricted to classes A, B, and F are intended to primarily reward demonstration of amateur radio to the public.
@scottN1AIA Same here from EL98. Heard Veronica as it approached from the south, then nothing, including myself, for first half of the pass. Started hearing W4A working folks but couldn't get in.
@supercazzola @K9EI_Tx @w8lid Well said. Twitter is particularly problematic since its strengths (speed, brevity, and transience) magnify the potential for miscommunication and encourage immediate reaction over careful contemplation in both Tx and Rx.
@K9EI_Tx @KE4ALabama @kw4bq Half duplex operation can be disruptive, and no one considers it a best practice. Calling CQ should be away from passband center, and will be very disadvantaged (and potentially disruptive) in a pileup for a rare grid.
